Chapter 12

Delia pulled Lux along, running further into the fields towards a huge windmill.

Lux pointed at the windmill, about to say something, but Ciaran interrupted him.

"That thing was already here when we found this place. It's like people used to live here," Ciaran said.

Ciaran picked up Delia, grabbed Lux's hand, and they started running again.

"Let me show you something," Ciaran shouted to Lux.

They entered the windmill, and Ciaran led them to a staircase. They climbed up, spiraling until they reached the top.

"Come on, you need to see this," Ciaran urged.

Lux followed Ciaran up the stairs and looked around, finding it empty.

"What did you want?" Lux asked.

Ciaran pointed to a small window, letting in orange light. Lux looked outside.

"It's evening now," Lux remarked.

"Yes, but look down," Ciaran said.

Lux glanced down to see a village with no people.

"What the hell, where are all the people?" Lux exclaimed.

"I don't know. I'm not a genius," Ciaran replied.

"Let's go down," Lux suggested.

"Alright, sir," Ciaran replied, following Lux down the stairs.
