Why won't you listen to me?

Chen Rui remembered the time where she got into an accident.

One of Ye Fanfan's men who was following the real Ye Shuxin was the person who saved her.

Yes, during that time, she had amnesia and because of that amnesia, Ye Fanfan took advantage of that situation. Her daughter was gone so having Chen Rui, who looked like her own daughter was her only comfort. She started filling up her mind with how Ye Shuxin was.

Not long, Cai Sijian found out where Chen Rui was and when he learned what Ye Fanfan was trying to do, at first, he was adamant against it but if not for the dangers that surrounded Chen Rui, he wouldn't have agreed with Ye Fanfan to hypnotize her when her memories as Chen Rui returned.

They showed her photos of all the people she knew that's why they were able to create a fake 'memory' and persona in her.

Since Ye Fanfan has always been sending her men to monitor Ye Shuxin's daily life, she filled Chen Rui's mind with it until she began living as 'Ye Shuxin'.

She has been living quietly as Ye Shuxin for a year until that one day when she met Cai Sijian again.

It was during the day before she attended the reunion celebration.

(One day ago: The day of the reunion)

She was eating her lunch alone in a restaurant when he approached her.

"I can't believe you ended up going back to him even after what happened." These were his first words when he took the seat opposite hers.

"Huh?"

He showed his pointy finger at her, "Look at my finger and listen carefully to my voice."

Cai Sijian was an expert in hypnotizing people since it was something he learned from his family.

For some reason, Chen Rui couldn't look away from his finger after he said that.

And with that, he helped her regain her identity as Chen Rui.

At first, Ye Shuxin was confused and she, later on, got mad at him for what he did.

It pained her when she learned that the memories she had as 'Ye Shuxin' were all fake. She wasn't 'Ye Shuxin'. All this time, she was the woman that Jin Mingze loved.

Since she regained all her memories, she was now conscious of what she was doing. She even went to meet Ye Fanfan.

"You... got your memories back?" Ye Fanfan turned to Cai Sijian who accompanied Chen Rui.

"I don't have a choice. She needs to have her memories back if she's going to live with Jin Mingze."

Ye Fanfan clenched her fists tightly. Oh, how she wished that she could kill him right there and then!

"This is why I told you to forget Jin Mingze and not to mingle with the Jin family!" Ye Fanfan couldn't control her anger. "Why won't you listen to me?!"

Chen Rui was looking blankly at her, "As much as I am thankful that you have given me 'Ye Shuxin's identity to hide from the people that are after me, you didn't have to go too far as to seal away my memories!"

She shot her head to Cai Sijian and glared at him as well.

Cai Sijian scoffed, placing a hand on his waist. "If I didn't do that, you won't be able to successfully deceive everyone around you."

What he said was true.

She has a different personality from Ye Shuxin.

Ye Fanfan sighed heavily, "What I told you about my daughter is true. This past year in her life. She's gone and you filled her role."

Chen Rui lowered her head. She didn't have Ye Shuxin's memories but the feelings she felt were real.

No wonder... ever since she met Jin Mingze again, she has felt familiarity a few times.

"Ye Shuxin is your sister..."

"I know," said Chen Rui with a sad smile.

Ye Shuxin was her long lost sister and she only found out about it before she got into an accident that got both of them in trouble.

Now that she was able to experience Ye Shuxin's life, her chest tightened. She was heartbroken to know the struggles her sister experienced before the accident.

Even in college, things weren't easy for her.

Ye Fanfan went and held Chen Rui's hands, squeezing them. Tears formed in her eyes, "I only have my daughter in you. I know that I am asking for too much but please... please let her live in you."

Chen Rui felt the pain Ye Fanfan had when she saw the look on her face. It was the look of a mother who longed for her daughter, a mother who was willing to do anything for her.

Chen Rui felt jealous knowing that Ye Shuxin was able to have such a mother who cared deeply for her.

She inhaled deeply just to stop herself from tearing up.

She turned her gaze to Cai Sijian, "Hypnotize me again."

"Huh?"

"I need to be Ye Shuxin for tonight."

"But..."

"It's fine. Just make sure that this time, the trigger to having my memories back will be Jin Mingze's face."

"Fine, fine. Just make sure that this time, you will leave the Jin family."

"I will, tomorrow."

Cai Sijian knew that look well. She would always make that kind of face whenever she made up her mind.

He took a pocket watch this time and swayed it in front of her, "Follow this with your eyes."

Chen Rui did until her mind became blank.

"You are Ye Shuxin. Ye Shuxin is you. You will only be able to every back to Chen Rui once you see Jin Mingze's face."

And so, later that night, when she saw Jin Mingze, she remembered everything once again. She cried so much when she saw him. He was the man she both hated and loved so much.
