Lav's voice broke through the thick air with a feigned surprise, as if she hadn't purposely staged this 'unexpected' encounter. Her tone was sweet, designed to draw Vio's attention, and it worked. His brows furrowed, suspicion darkening his features.
How many times had they 'unexpectedly' crossed paths now? Too many to dismiss as mere coincidence. "Wow! You work there?!" Lav exclaimed, her eyes widening in mock amazement as she glanced at the towering company building across the street.
"Mhm" Vio muttered, already turning away, his instincts screaming at him to distance himself from her. Something about Lavanya felt like quicksand—dangerous and unfeasible to escape once you were too deep. He quickened his pace, hoping to slip out of her grasp.
