"Evo, there's something you should know."

Bella's face had a seriousness that couldn't be missed. "What're you talking about?"

"It looks like your mom, Mildred, doesn't think of you as her son because she isn't your real mother."

"W-what? What do you mean?" I gave a soft laugh in a weak attempt to get rid of the nervousness that was starting to take over me. But underneath the surface, I couldn't deny that a feeling of dread kept growing and tightening its hold on my heart. I can no longer say how I feel.

"It is locked." Bella looked at the big box before them and then at Kaycee.

"Like that lock was a big deal." With a bright smile, Kaycee quickly grabbed hold of the padlock on the box. To my surprise, she could open it without any trouble, which was surprising because she had messed up my parents' room door. "You have to open the box, Evo."
