Chapter 8

"Do we know him?"

"Yes." Mum mumbled quietly.

I knew my dad.

But I didn't know him.

I didn't want to take this for granted since I knew that some people didn't have parents. I was lucky that I had both of my parents and for 20 years I had a third parent.

I needed time to process this.

Kaiden and I may have been twins, but we weren't the same. We dealt with stuff differently. I knew that him finding out that Max wasn't our dad didn't affect him because he never thought of Max as his dad because he was always a dick to us.

Unfortunately, I wasn't like that.

I took a liking to Max even if he didn't treat me right. He was my dad even if he never approved of what I did.

"I need time to think about this mum. But you don't have to worry, this will not break our family." I smiled when I finished my sentence.

I left the living room and headed to my room.

I entered my bed and snuggled in my covers. I would not sleep because I wasn't tired and honestly there was no point since I'd be getting up to go for food soon.

I hadn't heard from Bailey for quite a long time so I texted her.

A few minutes later I got a reply

Hi. U okay? Xxx - B

Yeah, I'm fine you? Xxx - K

I'm good. Come out with me later. Noah's invited me out and I'm deffo not going if u ain't. Plus, I've got no choice but to go which means ur coming to. Ty ly🥰xxxx - B

Once we had said our goodbyes I got into the shower and stayed in there for about half an hour.

I wear my bra and panty set then I pick out a white bodysuit. I quickly put that on, wear my bathrobe and sit down at my dressing table.

I do my eyebrows carefully then apply a smoky eyeshadow. Once I had finished my eyeshadow, I put foundation on. After that, I put mascara on my eyelashes and do my highlighter and contour. I wasn't in the mood for lipstick so I applied a coat of lip gloss and put the rest in my purse along with lip balm.

Once I had finished my makeup, I wiped my hands so I wouldn't get any makeup on my clothes and took my robe off. Then I put on blue jeans that were ripped at the knees and put on my white Melissa X Vivienne flats. I brush my hair and let the curls bounce around my head.

I left my bedroom and told my mum I was heading out and asked if she could drive me.

After a 15 minute drive, I arrived at Cosmos and went inside.

I looked for Bailey's table and saw her with Noah and someone else.

I knew who it was.

Obviously, it was Liam.

The only reason I headed towards them was that it would piss Bailey off if I didn't show up.

Why hadn't anyone told me that Liam was coming?

"Kehlani? You look beautiful. But the important question is what are you doing here?" It surprised me that Liam had a shocked look on his face. I would've thought he'd know that I'd be coming.

"Don't talk to me."

"You look hot Lani." Bailey smiled.

"Thank you, the same goes." I sat next to Bailey and picked up the menu.

"You look fit Kehlani." Noah had a smug smile when he said this and all I wanted to do was to wipe it off.

I took my phone out of my purse since I was waiting for them to decide when we would go to the buffet when a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me outside.

"Kehlani, I get it your mad at me but please. Just give me 5 minutes. You don't know the full story. I need to talk to you please listen." Liam pleaded.

"Not like I have a choice." I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes and prepared myself to listen to the bullshit that would spew out of his mouth.
