- The Risk of Learning Magic

In the middle of the colosseum Lucian was seen sitting with his legs crossed visible concentrated on the little sparks being made in between his hands

*bzzz* *zap* *bzzz*

"Finally finished transforming my mana to electricity" Lucian exhaled , he had been trying for weeks to manifest the mana he was gathering into electricity and finally succeeded

This was the next stage he had to achieve in order to progress as a magician in the new world based on the information he gained from Magnus

The first stage was easy as it only required being able to sense mana

The second stage was not that difficult as it required him to use the mana to control an object , he needed just a couple of hours to control his sword and very soon he was able to make his sword slash and thrust like he wanted.

If you could manage to control multiple objects without feeling strained or tired then you were ready for stage three , this only took him a couple of days and soon enough he had three short swords flying behind him waiting for a command

Stage three was where the flashy stuff truly began appearing , as it required the user to manifest the mana into one of the four main elements Fire , Water, Air ,Earth. Of course these where not the only elements one can manifest his mana into but they were the main and most common one's in this new world so the information that Lucian received didn't specify all of them

But through some experiments he was able to uncover some more , such as Darkness , Light , Ice and Lightning. He was sure there were probably many more but he was happy with the one's he knew since he was mainly interested in three

Lucian knew that most people in this new world could manifest and use only one element and that was the one they were most attuned to since birth , but there were exceptions who could use two/three some could even use five elements

As for Lucian he didn't how many he would be able to use as this place allowed him to use every element and as much mana as he wanted without feeling the drawbacks hence why his progress was so astonishingly fast

The three elements Lucian was interested in learning to manifest was the three newly discovered Lightning , Darkness and Ice

He planned to use Lightning as his element of attack , Darkness as his element of utility and Ice as his element of defense.

Earth was also in his consideration because it felt like a really strong element but Ice won him over as he considered it more useful personally

Although he had picked these three he still made sure to manifest every single element just in case his dreams came crushing down and he was left with nothing when he entered this new world

Lightning was the last one he had to manifest and now he could finally move on to stage four and the last stage in the information Magnus gave him , after that he would start dueling his doubleganger so he could get used to fighting with magic and when he was satisfied he would finally leave this place

Lucian looked towards the middle of the arena where the blue flame was still floating gracefully and smiled

"Just a little more and ill be out of your way little blue" He said to the flame , Lucian didn't know when he started talking to the flame but he didn't mind as he understood why he did it. After being here all alone for probably a couple of years he was just looking for a conversation

"Now time for stage four" Lucian closed his eyes and tried to find the information he needed in his memory for stage four

"There you are"

Stage four after manifesting mana externally the mage must now manifest his natural mana body into a conduit that can host the mages new source of power in order for him to unleash powerful elemental magic

Lucian knew how to do that thanks to Magnus. His mana body looked very similar to a certain game he played that used chakra instead of mana , his body was full of these channels flowing with natural mana only this mana was unique as it never left the body

This is what Knights used to temper their bodies to superhuman levels and mages used to turn into conduits so that they can use devastating spells

Lucian tried to create a hole a gap so to speak through the middle of every single channel in his body so that it can let the elemental energy settle and for it to start tempering his natural mana body and slowly turning it to an elemental body , only then would he be considered a mage and have the ability to freely use lightning or other elements at his command

He had to be careful as this procedure was considered extremely hard since you could not let the elemental energy touch the natural mana otherwise he would feel excruciating pain and would have to start all over again , he could only describe it as passing a thread through a very long and narrow tube that had twists and turns where you were not allowed to touch the tube at all during this process , but at least it had one good thing which was having complete control over how that thread moved so with enough concentration and patience one would succeed

But that was not the worst thing , Lucian had to do it with every single element because he was not sure which element he would end up with once he left this place

Just thinking about it hurt Lucians very soul , he had no patience in the first place so this was torture to him

"!!!" He opened his eyes fully bloodshot

"Agghhhhhh" he screamed from the sudden pain that overcame him , and he could guess why that was. He had failed to completely thread the lightning element

Lucian collapsed on the ground twisting and turning while holding his chest , he had never felt pain like this not even after dying so many times , his veins were ready to burst from how much he was tightening his muscles from the pain that continued to pulsate from his chest

"Fuuuughck...it huuurts" Make it stop quickly make it stop Lucian cried out mentally hoping that the colosseum would start healing him sooner

"Ughhh my chest ....it ... h..urts"

After a couple of minutes Lucian was still twisting and turning silently as he had no more energy to speak until he finally passed out from the pain , as soon as he did the colosseum finally started healing him back to normal. After a couple of hours had passed Lucian finally woke up

As soon as that happened he grabbed his chest by instinct but quickly relaxed as he realized it was finally over

"What the hell was that?" Lucian asked but quickly slammed the ground with anger afterwards

"Who the fuck invented this kind of masochistic way of training"

He was truly fucking furious this time , because he had to go though this method for all the elements if he wanted to be on the safe side and if he failed..... his heart dropped just thinking about the pain

"What have i done" he complained , Lucian thought that he should of used his wishes a little more thoughtfully but that was all done and good now so he had to let it go

After a few more hours of trying to hype himself up , he finally sat down with his legs crossed ready to try again

"I swear i better not turn into a masochist after this" he remarked with sarcasm in his voice

"Otherwise ill take my anger out on very single living member of the guy who invented this shit" Lucian said with a sneer as he started the process once again
