The Escape II

Mr Payne's Apartment (3:46 am)

At the early offset of dawn, the surrounding was filled with the gentle blowing breeze. Just a few meters away from the gates of Mr Payne's house, a large truck meant for conveying valuables belonging to Mr Payne and his family was parked. The driver's hands were softly on the steering wheel.

Payne and his family had finished loading their valuable properties into the truck, the driver was now waiting for them to board the vehicles so the journey would begin.

"Hurry Lucia" Mrs Anne said as they hurried out of the gates while Mr Payne revved the engine of his car to convey them. The car drove outside and they hastily got in. "Let's move"

Midland Bridge, 35 kilometers out California.

The quite ernormous bridge was erected over the massive waters flowing through the city. The two vehicles sped through the bridge, tagging along each other.

Inside the vehicle....

Mr Payne noticed several silhouettes of figures at the far end of the bridge, as he got nearer, the lights of the car illuminated the figures. There were two cars blocking the end and several men armed with rifles stood at the front.

"Everybody get down!"

Pa! Pa! Pa!

Flat!

Two of the car's tyres collapsed, putting it to a stop. The truck driver quickly matched his brakes and jumped down for cover.

"Stay in the car, don't you dare come out" Mr Payne warned his family, removing a pistol and cocking it. His wife almost freaked out, seeing the gun.

"Jeez dad, we need to run" Alex panicked as he saw several men coming towards them.

The truck driver saw this as an opportunity to run for his life, so he ran, numerous bullets flew after him.....But they missed, he managed to jump down the bridge, down into the water. 'Splash'

But he wasn't gonna survive anyway!

Mr Payne opened the car driver's door and aimed accurately for the incoming attackers.

Pa! Pa!

Two men went down dead, and the others went for cover, Alex was wowed, where did his dad learn how to use a gun perfectly like this?

"Go, go, go" His father's voice sprang him out of his thoughts.

He alighted from the car, hastily, followed by Lucia, then their mum. They all ran towards the truck behind them to take cover. Mr Payne took cover behind his vehicle, from the now raining bullets.

He took two deep sighs and tried to aim for another attacker.

Pow! A stray bullet hit his arm.

"Ahhhhh" he yelled in pains, putting fear in the hearts of his family who heard the scream.

"Oh no" Mrs Anne panicked.

The pistol in Payne's hand dropped and before he could try to pick it up, Click!

A revolver was cocked and pointed at his skull.

"Don't move"

"Well, well! Trying to play smart huh?" A deep masculine voice said. He stood up carefully, to avoid being shot and he turned to see Runtown clad in a black coat and his usual hat, with six other guards behind him.

Four other armed men led Lucia, Alex, and Mrs Anne towards them, Lucia had began crying.

"No please, you can kill me, but please let them go" Mr Payne pleaded in tears.

"Mr Benson, Payne, Rippoff" Runtown called slowly.

His family was made to go on their knees.

"You think you can go Scot free?"

"Runtown please I beg of you..... Pow! A punch from one of the guards shut him up.

"I am 'omnipresent'!"

"I am everywhere, you can't run from me"

An evil smile escaped his lips.

Lucia's POV

Amidst tears, a stupid thought struck her mind, she saw a picture of how the truck driver jumped down the bridge display in her head, then she decided to do it.

BOOM

She ran towards the end of the bridge, "stop her" Runtown yelled.

One of the guards aimed at her before she could jump down, he was about to pull the trigger when Mrs Anne held his hand and pushed him.

*....*

Pa!

*....*

A bullet escaped Runtown's pistol into her skull.

Alex.....😣😮

Mr Payne.....😫😮

"Noooooooooooo"

Lucia was far gone into the water........
