I had grown up being told that one day I would be loved by a man that wanted me for who I was. That love was more than skin deep. But as I grew up in a world where I was adored for my race and not for who I was as a human being, the more I realized that I would never find someone that would love me for me. My parents had been wrong. For me, there was no seeing beyond my golden complexion, dark brown eyes, and black hair. There was no way to see past my short stature or my curves.
