As the overweight daughter of the Sutton family, Kelsie is an eyesore to everyone. Her father can't wait to get rid of her, his wife and their daughter daughter too. The man she's supposed to marry can't stand her and looks for ways to end their engagement, all to no avail. But on the day she's to get married, she finds out she's pregnant. Her fiancé finally uses the opportunity to break off his engagement to her and her father sends her packing to her aunt in another city never to return after she refuses to remove the baby like he asked her to. Seven years later, she returns to the city to claim her position as the heiress of her mother's fortune, which her father and his wife and daughter has been living off of all these years. But not as the overweight duckling everyone expected, but as a stunning, glamorous woman. Behind her are three children: a daughter who looks exactly like her, a handsome son, and another handsome son who looks too much like the most powerful man in the city. Unexpectedly, the dimwit, her fiancé who broke off their engagement comes begging for them to get married like they were supposed to. "So what if you're stunning now and lost all that weight? Everyone knows you used to be an ugly duckling. Who knows the underhanded ways you resorted to to lose weight. Forget our past and marry me again." The woman looked at him and snickered. "Aren't you the heir of the Baker family? Why would you marry a fatso like me?" The man huffed and said arrogantly. "Hmph! Do whatever you want. But I assure you that no one in Silicon Valley will want to marry a woman saddled with bastard children!" The triplets came up on his face and snorted in disdain. "Who's this? Where is daddy when a man like this harasses mommy?” “I told you he wasn’t worth her. Hurry up and call him quickly.” The man who was in the middle of a conference call ended it as soon as he heard the news and went straight to where she was. “Are you hitting on my wife? Bastards? Are you calling the beloved children of Jett Adler bastards?” “Eh-what? Jett Adler? The most powerful man in the city? How is that even possible!”
The living room of the Sutton family mansion bustled with people walking around in their designers clothing.
Insincere laughters rang out from every corner of the house.
Maidservants carrying trays of foods and glasses of champagnes hurried from the kitchen to every corner of the house.
In the midst of all these was the overweight daughter of the Sutton family, Jerry Sutton's first daughter, Kelsie Sutton.
She stood in front of the buffet table with her drowsy eyes lowered to the floor, paying no attention to the looks of disgust being thrown her way the guests.
She wasn't one to be self-aware of their gaze, but she knew the body hogging dress she was wearing contributed to it.
Despite being aware of how fat she was, her step-mother still suggested this dress. Merely getting into it was difficult and she found it hard to move around freely.
Her father didn't didn't find anything wrong with wife's decision and so did her younger sister, the second child of the Sutton family.
Moving around all night made her exhausted and as she stood in front of the foodstand contemplating what to eat, she decided to close her eyes briefly, but her tired body began dozing off.
Soon, a group consisting of young people who were drinking and laughing at the buffet table some meters away, noticed her.
One of them gently nudged the beautiful girl who was dressed in a knee-length dinner gown which stopped just above her knee.
Her delicate, almost porcelain-like face glowed softly under the light as she turned to the person.
"Laura, shouldn't you do something about that?"
"I thought I'm the only one seeing this. Why do you still feed her when she's already so big?"
"Mmm, even if you don't feed her for days, she's fat enough to sustain herself until then."
"Oh, she's such an eyesore, I can't bear to look at her any longer.l."
"If I were as fat as her, I would've killed myself by now. How does she even manage to live with herself?"
"I know this is her engagement ceremony, but does she have to stand in the middle of the room? She's inconveniencing a lot of us."
Upon hearing them, a hint of mockery flashed Laura Sutton's eyes. However, she suppressed the urge to join them and got on her feet instead.
"You guys, that's enough. That fatty likes to eat so much. It's her hobby. Instead of trying to dissuade her, why don't we suggest foods for her to eat?" She casually waved her hand at them, saying in a self-righteous voice.
Then she grabbed a plate from the buffet table and began walking towards Kelsie.
The others snickered loudly and followed suit.
Following her example, they each piled up foods on their plates and shoved it towards Kelsie.
"Today is your engagement ceremony, you should eat as much as you want. If the food isn't enough, you can always tell the chefs to make you more."
Unable to suppress it anymore, Laura burst out laughing as soon as the words rolled off her tongue.
Soon enough, those with her and some people who heard her, joined in.
However, Kelsie didn't budge.
As the laughter died down, Laura's cheeks subtly heated up in embarrassment when Kelsie didn't respond.
Aggressively biting down on her lower lip, she stepped closer to her and poked her twice on the shoulder. "Hey, didn't you hear me? Are you deaf now?"
Kelsie just sucked in a deep breath and continued sleeping.
Irritation flickered in Laura's eyes as she began seething with rage.
She was just about to explode when a familiar voice came up behind her.
"What is going on here?"
Instantly, she spurned around to see a man dressed in expensive suit and an expensive rolex on his left hand, cradling a plate with half-eaten food, standing behind them with his brows raised questioningly.
Some people recognized him almost immediately and turned to him with rapt attention.
Others who didn't know his identity, asked and when they were told, also stopped their discussions to pay attention to him.
Laura locked eyes with him for a moment and coquettishly bit down on her lower before speaking up hesitantly, "Nothing that important, Bryan. I was just making sure Kelsie has enough to eat."
"She's been standing in front of the buffet table for far too long, so I assumed she needed help deciding what to eat. So I came to help her out."
"Is that so?" The man chuckled and stepped forward.
He didn't care to hide the irritation in his eyes towards Kelsie as he rashly dumped his plate in front of her.
"It so happens I also need help finishing mine. Unlike you, I'm not really gifted with the ability to eat much."
Bryan Baker was Kelsie's fiancé and the Baker family was a top family in New Metropolis who had a few businesses in Silicone Valley.
Hence, Bryan and a few members of his family were sent here to oversee the businesses.
He was already so offended that he was being forced to marry into a lesser family, but finding out that he would be marrying someone overweight was a bigger blow to his ego.
So even though he had been told to be nicer to Kelsie by his father, he always lost his temper whenever he saw her face and would never let an opportunity to spit on her pass him by.
When Kelsie didn't raise her head to look at him, his nostrils flared up in rage and he pointed a shaky finger at her, his voice trembling in agitation.
"Don't look down when I'm talking to you! Do you know how much the Baker family had to contribute to throw such an elaborate engagement ceremony for you?"
Kelsie was already deep asleep to hear a word anyone was saying, so naturally, she didn't respond.
Seeing this, Laura Sutton pursed her lips and gently grabbed him by the arm.
"I understand your concern, Bryan. Money is already so hard to make. For someone who doesn't earn any more, she sure knows how to waste food."
"But don't you worry, I'll make sure the money your Baker family spent into preparing this ceremony won't go to waste!"
Then she turned away from him and pointed at two of her friends.
"You see, Kelsie's pride is just as big as her and we're wasting our time talking trying to talk sense into her."
"Instead of wasting our time doing that, you and you, grab her. I'll feed her Bryan's food myself!"
The people she pointed at quickly held Kelsie.
As she was roughly pulled to the side, Kelsie's eyes instantly peeled open.
She had been forcefully yanked out of her sleep, so it took her a moment to realize what was happening.
Realizing she was being held down, she began to struggle in confusion, trying to break free from their grasp.
"Stop. What are you doing? Get your hands off me!"
They held onto her tighter and the other guests ignored what was going on.
Laura picked up the food and scooped up a spoonful, then she moved her hand towards Kelsie with a sinister smile.
"Stay still, will you? It would be a shame for this to go through the wrong hole."
As the spoon got closer to her face, Kelsie moved her head to the side numerous times, shouting, "Stop. Take that away from me. I said, stop!"
Laura sighed in frustration and gripped her tightly by the jaw, keeping her face still.
Then she moved the spoon towards Kelsie's mouth again, but Kelsie smelt the food and gagged.
For some reason, the smell of the food made the insides of her stomach churn in disgust.
Before she knew it, she parted her lips and threw up everything she had eaten that evening on Laura.
