Chapter 12: The Bomb finale

Near the docks, Bette is patiently waiting for General Eiling to arrive. Her heart is pounding as she clutches the something, trying to steady her nerves. In her hands were a couple of marbles that Myles had provided for her to use. They looked so small and insignificant, but she knew they could cause a massive explosion when she infuses it with her power. She's wearing the same clothes as the day before, a black hoodie and jeans, but this time there's a sense of purpose about her.

As she waits, Bette thinks back to the plan that Myles had outlined for her. She was to lead the general to a specific spot where they had set up a trap. It was a risky move, but they had no other choice. The plan was to use the marbles to trip up the general's convoy, causing them to crash, and panic, giving Bette a chance to escape.

Bette hears the sound of several vehicles approaching and her heart skips a beat. She takes a deep breath and focuses on the marbles in her hand. She knows that if she fails, the consequences could be catastrophic.

As the vehicles pull up, a group of heavily armed soldiers step out and approach Bette with caution. Eiling, the commanding officer, steps out of the vehicle and approaches Bette with a smug look on his face.

"Well, well, well," he says, his voice booming. "Good to see you've come to your senses, Ms. Sans Souci," Eiling says, his voice full of arrogance. "Now let's get you back to the lab where we can start studying your powers and make America great again."

Bette shakes her head in refusal, knowing what Eiling really meant by "studying her powers." . "I'm not going anywhere with you, General. I'm done being your lab rat," she replies firmly.

Wade, tries to appeal to Bette's emotions and guilt. "But Bette, think of all the soldiers you could save. They could finally go home to their families," he says, trying to convince her to cooperate.

Bette scoffs at his words. "What about my family? What about my life? I'm not going to be your pawn," she retorts.

Eiling tries a different tactic, claiming that Bette can help her family by working with them first. But Bette sees right through his lies. "You're a terrible liar, General. If you want to win this war so badly, do it yourself," she says before tossing marbles at Eiling and his soldiers, causing them to slip and fall on the ground.

The marbles bursts into a cloud of smoke, temporarily blinding Eiling and his men. Convoys were flipping in the air, and fire was spreading, defeating most of Eiling's men. Bette marched towards Eiling, her eyes filled with malicious intent, ready to take him down. Barry showed up in his Flash outfit, pleading for her to stop. "Please Bette, this isn't worth it," he said desperately. But Bette was determined. "If I stop now, he'll just keep chasing me," she replied.

Barry was about to say something else when a gunshot echoed through the area. Bette fell to the ground, and Barry turned to see the general holding a smoking gun. The man quickly passed out, and Barry rushed to Bette's side. He knelt beside her and asked if she was okay

Bette looked up at Barry, her eyes still filled with determination. "I'm fine," she said, her voice calm and steady. "And I'm ready for phase 2."

Barry sighed in relief before becoming determined himself. "Alright then," he said, "let's do this." He gently picked up Bette, who used her powers to turn her bulletproof vest into a bomb.

"Hey Cisco," Barry said, speaking into his earpiece. "How fast do I need to be to run on water?"

Cisco's voice crackled through the earpiece. "I'm running the calculations now. Give me a sec."

But before Cisco could respond, another voice spoke up. "About Mach 1.5," Harrison/Eobard said from his wheelchair in Star Labs. "Assuming you can maintain that speed over the surface of the water without breaking the surface tension."

Barry took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the responsibility on his shoulders. He began to run, and as he did, he felt a familiar presence beside him. He looked to his side and saw Myles, wearing his Tachyon costume, running alongside him.

The two nodded at each other, and Myles took the bomb vest from Bette before running even farther ahead while Flash and Bette went to another area. Worry filled everyone's mind except Eobard as they watched Myles dropthe vest before running back.It exploded in a massive burst of energy, creating a giant wave Myles looks behind and quickly speeds up.

Myles came back to Barry's side, panting. "Bette when I said make it big, I didn't mean turn it to a nuke." he said. "Hey Barry is my butt on fire?"

Barry tries to hold his laugh as Myles shows his singed butt. Bette does the same but fails. "Oh ha,ha, ha very funny." Myles growled in annoyance. "That's Karma Myles." Barry said earning a glare from the thief.

"Shut it, streak." He pouts before carrying Bette. "Alright, let's get you some make over."

"Wait, wait, he knows how to make do make up?" Caitlin asked in the disbelief.

Myles looks at Flash and said, "Well later Flash, I'll steal some other time." With that they were gone leaving Barry alone. The streak checks his wallet and its contents before sighing relief only to be replaced by horror as Myles came back.

"I forgot this, thanks." The thief said taking the hero's wallet.

Barry's eye twitched and screams at Myles.

---

Weeks passed by since the fiasco with Plastique and the General. Myles can be seen sitting on the same bench where he met Barry. The young man was busy eating a bucket of ice cream while ignoring the stares and the people recording him. He stops for a bit when he saw someone take a seat beside him and found it was Barry.

"Hey, Barry!" Myles said, smiling.

"Hey, Myles," Barry replied, returning the smile.

Myles offered the bucket of ice cream to Barry, saying, "Want some? It's really good."

Barry shakes his head, "No thanks, I already had breakfast." Myles shrugged and continued to eat the ice cream in silence. After a few moments, Barry spoke up, "So, uh, how are you doing?"

Myles paused for a moment, looking down at the bucket of ice cream before meeting Barry's gaze.

"I'm doing pretty good," Myles replies with a smile. "I mean, aside from being recognized everywhere I go. But I'm getting used to it."

Barry chuckles, "Yeah, that's kind of what happens when you become a viral sensation." His mind questioning the logic of Myles somehow immune to brain-freeze.

Myles laughs, "Yeah, I guess you're right about that."

They sit in comfortable silence for a moment before Barry speaks up again, "Listen, Myles. I just wanted to say that what you did for Bette, and for all of us, was really brave. I don't think we could have stopped Eiling without you."

Myles shrugs, "Eh, I just did what I had to do. And besides, it's not like I did it alone. You guys were there every step of the way, give yourself some credit all I did was run off with a bomb."

Barry nods, "Yeah, but still. You took a lot of risks and put yourself in danger. So I just wanted to say thank you."

Myles grins, "Anytime, man. That's what friends are for, right?"

Barry smiles back, "Right. And speaking of friends, how's Bette doing?"

Myles leans back on the bench, "She's doing good. Her life is going well, and she's starting to get used to her power."

Barry nods, "That's great to hear. And what about you? What's next for Myles?"

Myles shrugs, "Who knows? Maybe I'll steal your job in the forensics."

Barry laughs, "Hey, you never know. But in the meantime, maybe you should stick to just being a viral celebrity."

Myles grins, "Yeah, maybe you're right. I don't think I could handle the responsibility of being a cop."

"You know you can still quit, right?" Barry said.

"Barry, just because I help people doesn't mean I'm quitting this lifestyle. You've got something to prove but I don't other than beating at your A-game. I love my life."

The scarlet speedster sighs, he was hoping to convince Myles to change and become his partner but he failed.

Seeing his depressing look, Myles lighten the mood. "Relax dude, if it helps you feel any better, I have a day off and vacation days."

"Since when do you 'guys' have vacation days?" Barry asked.

"How else are we gonna spend the money?"

They both chuckle before Barry stands up, "Well, I gotta go. Duty calls and all that."

Myles nods, "Yeah, I hear you. Good luck out there, Flash."

Barry gives him a thumbs up, "Thanks, Myles. Take care of yourself, okay?"

Myles nods as Barry walks away before turning back to his bucket of ice cream with a smile on his face.
