"I heard that my parents have another child! I obviously have the interest of visiting them. I also just think it is not easy for us to survive in any city we go to." Wang Lu spoke with a sincere expression, but all he got was a sneer.
"How much does each of you have?" He didn't even seem offended.
"How much what?" Xingyue asked first.
He got a snack on the head before he could even react.
"Do you think I'm talking about your hair? It's money! We can't survive without money! The city is not the Wang clan domain, and everyone would need money to survive. Don't tell me none of you have any?" He asked with a serious expression. But his hand was already tightly holding onto the pouch by his side.
His actions couldn't escape from the eyes of Wang Shi Yi and Xingyue. They looked at him with some pitiful expressions.
"Brother! We are going with you to see our little sister! After all we need to know each other! We are family!" Shi Yi's words made Wang Lu retreat nine steps backward.
He couldn't understand, not did he care to. He just felt that this woman was very shameless.
Turning to Xingyue that was nodding along, he become even more upset.
He didn't forget to put his arm into the carriage through the window, before picking up some carrots.
"I can't even bring myself to be seen with you two! My face will be lost." He said as he put carrots in his sleeve. Even Xingyue couldn't help it.
"Stop it man! That is enough!" Xingyue felt that he would loose face badly. But Wang Lu didn't think he had done anything wrong.
"Let's go and see where our capabilities lie! We can't just speak about going to that city and that city without ability."he thought to himself.
"By the way Wang Lu! You never said why our families didn't mention the issue of entering the Academy?" Shi Yi couldn't just push this issue aside no matter how much she tried.
It was common knowledge that the Academies weren't easy. They had backing of the city lords, but that was it. Even now, with the support of the strongest experts in the city, that alAcademies failed to match the descendants of the clan that fumbled upwards on their own.
But someone like Wang Lu didn't even need to be told the reason, he could almost already guess the reason.
"Do you know why it is difficult to enter the master realm than becoming a Grandmaster?" He asked Shi Yi.
Xingyue that had been walking behind increased his pace. He obviously wanted to hear more about this. He knew from early on as kids that Wang Lu had a different outlook on things. The more he listened, the profound it seemed.
"What is it to be called a master? I think a master just shows that one has managed to go beyond the ordinary. Anyone that can be called a master had to go through a lot to accomplish this, and that is why talent alone can't cut it." Wang Lu looked at Shi Yi and said with a solemn tone.
"Assume you are carrying stones to make a wall on the beach to block water. You then keep carrying the stones but the water level also rises with the passage of time. So when carrying the stones everytime and you discover the situation on the shore what would you do?" He asked a question.
"Give up? Or seek another way foward? Or continue to carry the stones?" He then gave them three choices.
When they heard this, instead of rushing to answer, they started to think about it. But even with minutes passing by, the two couldn't come to with answers.
Seeing this, he looked at them and said, "What do you think it the right answer?"
Shi Yi was the first to give a response, "The first! No! The third!"
On the other hand, Xingyue almost mentioned all the three. In the end they couldn't just come up with an answer and stick to it.
"You should be having a hard time, and the simple reason is that fact that you had to chose from three options. If only two where present, perhaps you would have chosen easily right?" He continued to probe, but the two of them remained silent.
It was clearly had agreed with his claim even by not saying anything.
He looked at them and said, " A master is someone that was able to answer the question. The thing that is more important is that a master doesn't need to get other people's guidance to have such a choice."
When Xingyue heard this, he had a slightly peculiar look in his eyes.
"Masters are people that chose their own answer and are willing to bear consequences that came with it. Wether it is giving up, or changing the method, or even persisting in the face of helplessness. But those that gain the guidance of others to cultivate will always reach a dead end sooner or later." He stated this.
Before continuing, "To step into the master realm, is probably more than just grasping artistic conception, but confidence. I'm guessing the Academy also has discovered this problem, but it is difficult to change human nature."
The two of them had never thought about this, and now they had a new door opened for them. But even so, they couldn't help but complain, "How could this be?''
"Why don't you try and remember the moment you were taught the weapon control! What did you get told often?" He was indeed curious.
"Giving others guidance might seem like an act of benovelence but in actuality for those that wish to reach higher levels in cultivation, need unwaring mind and the courage to take risks." He looked at the two and smilled.
" You should now understand what I mean right? The Academy doesn't lack talents, but getting to the master realm is not just a matter of talent. I've read a bit too much travel journals, and with everything I gathered, it become easier to understand something. Those that reach the master realm and probably even go further need to be true to themselves, understand their nature, and temper themselves through difficulty." He voice become lower as he said this.
As if he had himself discovered something, his eye shone brightly, "Letting nature take its course is the most taboo thing in the path of cultivation. Seeking to cultivate in itself is already against nature! Those that abide by the will of heavens are mortals while immortals go against the heavens!"
He seemed to have understood this line he had read somewhere. But he also read something he had not said, when it came to weapon skills, natural talent can also play a major role, but even so, it had nothing to do with him.
His saber talent was almost nonexistent, as such he could only mumble some cool word, who knew it could catch the attention of his two friends.
"Wang Lu! Did you also read that one too?" Shi Yi and Xingyue where pumbed.
"Yeah! What about it?" He asked the two as they made way into the massive crowd.
