"it's not that I'm not willing, but with his current state, it would be almost impossible to even move past the first hurdle. If he is lucky and passes, then the second one is even more impossible in his current situation." She didn't mock him anymore as she could feel the change in his mood.
Wang Chengshan still didn't change his mind and bowed toward her. "Please give my grandson a chance!"
She wanted to talk back but seeing his current demeanour, she lost interest and just snorted before vanishing from the spot.
Only Wang Chengshan was left alone. Wang Chen and Qin Zhu didn't even realize what he had done. They kept making plans, and a figure like a ghost slowly materialized in Wang Lu's room.
Wang Lu that was sleeping opened his eyes and looked around wearily.
He only saw a woman with white hair standing before his bed. She looked at him without any emotion in her eyes.
"Do you want to recover?" She asked in a cold voice.
"What do you want in return?" Wang Lu that had opened his eyes didn't panic. With this woman's strength, she could crush him at will. Let alone with how weak he was, it was impossible so make much waves before her.
That was not all, he had to consider his sister's safety.
"Oh! You are not as foolish as most people your age! But then again, with my cultivation if there is nothing I can't get can you be able to?" She spoke with a sneer.
Was clearly mocking him for not knowing the intensity of heaven and earth. Someone like her was indeed on another league all together. Just standing there, Wang Lu felt as though the world was located inside this room.
Of course that was his weakness, but even so, he didn't dare refute what she had said.
The reason was simple, she was right. It was even strange in the woman's eyes as he didn't seem offended by her words, but just smilled lightly.
"Why are you smiling? You haven't given me a response to my question!" She was impatient, clearly not someone with a good temper. She liked to handle matters fast.
"I think senior should just state their condition first! In this world how could there be something for free. Free things are often times the most expensive!" He said with a serious expression.
"Well said! Free things are often times the most expensive. If I had this awareness back then, how could I have ended up like this!" The woman had a helpless smile on her face as she looked at Wang Lu.
She then changed the subject, "Why did you do everything to save this little girl when you might have had a chance by escaping?"
"I just felt like saving her! Can't I?" He replied in a carefree manner.
"Of course you can! But you are weak! What gave you the courage. If your grandfather had not appeared you would have both died!" She spoke with some inexplicable emotions in her eyes.
Even though what she said was true, Wang Lu indeed didn't have time to think about this at the moment of life and death. It was also at this moment that he realized he attached great importance to his family, he couldn't let the system play him into harming them some day in the future.
"I'm I not still alive?" He looked as her with a flat face. No expression could be seen in his eyes.
"Is there something wrong with the head of men of your family. Your grandfather back then almost died to save that woman. You are following in his footsteps?" She seemed to be asking a question and also somewhat finding this behavior comical.
"I wouldn't dare! But senior should know that she is my little sister right? If it was someone else, I might not risk my life to save them unless I have the ability!" He just stated this casually.
"Hahaha! Good kid! Compared to your grandfather, I think you kid are more pleasing to the eyes. But what will you do if I refuse to help you out of this situation? Are you going to resent me?" She asked as she looked at Wang Lu.
"Senior is joking! When did saving me become senior's responsibility. It might be a pity to lose out the chance to be saved, but that has nothing to do with you. It's not like you are the one that attacked me right?" He replied without even a change in expression.
"But what if I have a method to save you?" She insisted on this.
Wang Lu then replied, "What does senior's method have anything to do with me?"
Indeed! It was as he thought, what did her means have anything to do with him.
"Someone is starving somewhere in this world, and yet I have more than enough food to eat. What does their starvation have anything to do with me? I don't owe them? The same is true for senior towards me!" He replied without even thinking.
"Besides! Anyone that rushes to practice martial arts should already be willing to accept the fact that this road is never smooth sailing. Others might be willing to help you out when in trouble, that means you owe them and if someone doesn't, it would be stupid to resent them. After all, the world doesn't revolve around anyone!" He seemed to have gained some clear mind after saying this.
He even felt much more relaxed.
"You can still think like this even after getting in this situation! I am impressed. Since that is the case, I can't just ignore you without giving you a chance to fight for your life. But how long you can last will depend on your own fate. I won't risk my life to save you though! But I can enlighten you on something that might allow you to live longer, but even so, it all still depends on your luck." The woman indeed didn't lie to Wang Chengshan.
She had no way of saving Wang Lu. She had never seen a situation like this and thus could only infer things in a theoretical way using her knowledge.
But with this knowledge she felt this was the best way out and perhaps it could even be biggest chance for the kid.
It was just that turning theoretical knowledge into reality was not easy.
It was a pity, she couldn't help him with this at all, as all the knowledge she gave him was hints.
He had to take this path by himself as such she decided to just give him a nudge in the right direction and if he managed to gain something, that would be his fate.
But before that, she had to give him some inspiration.
"What do you think drives the human body? Is it our thoughts, feelings, spirit or will?" The question was very difficult for him to answer as he had never thought about it.
But this words reminded him of some famous quotes from his previous life.
