Caesar desired nothing more than power—to instill fear and dominate his enemies. But that was until…he met the forced wife of his enemy. Fascination, thrill, and the need to bring her undone... You Are As Good As Dead!

A moment of thought.

"Meaning?" Mr. Petrov asked, raising a brow.

"How can you suggest I stay in the mansion all the time and stop stepping outside?" Adeline asked, the displeasure in her tone very clear.

"Dimitri does what he wants. He found me pathetic enough to open our marriage for the both of us. He and I agreed to it, you did too. I don't understand why you're suddenly meddling."

Mr. Petrov's eyes were murderous as he looked at her, but he didn't react. Rather, he dropped the cigarette into the ashtray and crushed it.

"What happened to the two men I sent after you yesterday?" he questioned, digressing.

Adeline's body tensed up a bit, but she was quick to compose herself before it could even cross his notice.

"What two men?" she asked, acting clueless.

Mr. Petrov's face crumpled into a frown, and he abruptly gripped her harshly by the chin, his eyes boring into hers.

"Adeline, what happened to them?!" he shouted, tightening his grasp. "I won't repeat myself again!"

Adeline winced a bit in pain but charmingly smiled at him in the next moment, as though she had a few screws loose in her head. "I don't know what you are talking about. If your men were trailing me, how would I have known?"

"The only two men who picked me up yesterday were Dimitri and Mikhail. I don't know anything else!"

Mr. Petrov's shoulders heaved up and down in frustration, and he furiously let go, pushing her in the process.

Adeline staggered back and lifted her hand to touch her sore chin. She caressed it, her left eye twitching in slight pain.

"I'm warning you, Adeline. Whatever it is that you are planning, I will cut your wings off before you can do anything. You better treasure your useless life while you still can, or else..." Mr. Petrov scoffed in contempt and stormed over to sit down on his chair.

Adeline looked at him, deep breaths escaping her mouth. "What? You'll have your men follow me around now and take my freedom away?"

"Untill I get that file from you, of course." Mr. Petrov laughed, chuckling. "You think I'll let you go out there without keeping you under watch? Last night was only a mistake!"

"You better be careful, because once I get what I want, you..." His smile broadened, evil and malicious. "...Are as good as dead. I'll make sure you'll join your parents in a much more painful way. Your life is hanging by a thread and it'll snap soon."

Adeline's throat bumped as she swallowed, but she took deep breaths, calming and composing her self.

A smile made its way to her lips and she exhaled. "Let's see how long it will take you to get the file from me then."

Mr. Petrov abhorrently narrowed his eyes on her and his hands clenched into fists, his pupils burning with so much hostility that she felt an eerie prickle dance along her skin.

"Can I leave now?" Adeline asked.

"Get. Out. Of. My. Office!" He snarled at her with gritted teeth. She'd pissed him off even more.

Adeline took her leave and shut the door. She walked into her bedroom and was met with Dimitri seated on the white couch with crossed legs and a glass of alcoholic wine in his grip.

According to her conversation with Mr. Petrov, she could tell that Dimitri hadn't said anything about the incident last night to him.

Why? She'd expected worse.

Her eyes squinted into a thin line, and she strolled off towards the door that led into the bathroom, but a sentence from Dimitri made her come to an immediate halt.

"You feel good, don't you?"

Adeline turned, her brows raised in surprise and confusion. "What do you mean?" she asked.

Dimitri dropped the glass of wine on the mini table and stood up to his feet. A rancorous smile made its way to his lips, and he began to approach her with his hands shoved into the pocket of his pants.

Adeline's brown orbs watched him as he moved closer, never stopping until her back hit the wall from stepping away from him.

Dimitri pressed both his hands on either side of her head on the wall, locking her in between him and the rough wall.

"What are you doing?" She instinctively tensed.

He couldn't possibly be thinking of starting from where he'd stopped last night, right? She might actually kill him this time around.

Yesterday was quite rough due to her being tipsy, but this morning was different.

Her eyes shot to her right, secretly looking for any possible object she could get her hands on, be it he ever tried anything funny with her.

"Looking for something to hit me with, hm?" The voice was deep, smug, and much too proud to make Adeline's blood boil in vexation.

Her face was distorted purely out of annoyance. "Please, get out of my way."

Dimitri arrowed his lips in amusement and chastised her, "Kicking me with your heels was pretty violent of you."

"Do you know how much you hurt me?"
