Ch.12 Test in the guild

I woke up early in the morning. I looked over the room we were placed into. There were three rooms in total connected with doors and I was in the middle one with Mika. On the left side was Tama and Shiro I had to summon last night becouse madam Katherine, the lady of the house, wanted to meet them. The right room had Ricca as it's resident.

The plan for today was to look at the mansion and register the three slave girls as adventurers.

The city being square shaped means that the grid is even. Still, there are four sets of walls around the center of the town as it grew bigger.

The center of the town have buildings of the guilds and mansions of the city governors (the El Mayleen family). The second circle is split in quarters, with the north-east belonging to nobles who serve the El Mayleen family (as their rank is [Duke] there is quite a lot of families under them), north-west and south-west being residential area of more powerful and wealthy people and finaly the south-east part, where knight order have as it's base.

Final part of the town the third to fifth squares are residential areas, with the fifth district being mostly called 'The Slums'. That is becouse there was a great influx of run aways from the last war with the Green kingdom. In the slums lives a lot of families that lost their way to make money so they came here to try their luck. Given that the entery to the dungeon is free, many children tries to make living there as bag carriers.

Speaking of the city reminds me that the mansion we were given is on the outskirts of the central district. It's not really that out of hand, as it is just three blocks away from this mansion and it's near main eastern road, which leads to the royal capital.

I streched my body in the bed and silently exited it. I looked over my shoulder and saw Mika's smiling face turn a little sad.

"We have to get up, Mika."

"I know... I just don't wanna," Mika puffed up her cheeks as she rised next to me to plant a kiss on my cheek, which is something of a morning ritual for her now.

"Go wake up Ricca. I'll wake up the twins," I caressed her cheek and kissed her on her soft, warm lips.

I entered the room of the twins and headed to one bed. Although there were two beds, the sisters slept together.

"Shiro, Tama, time to wake up."

I shook one of the girls shoulders, but was grabbed by other hand in the process. "Huh?"

Before I realized it, Tama pulled me in the bed, right between the sisters. Both of them hugged me.

"Shiro! Tama! Wake up! Your ribcages are crushing my head!"

Suddenly, a cold breeze came over me, even though I was surrounded by warmness. I slowly looked up. And there, Mika was glaring at me.

"Little help please... I can't move..."

"Just unsummon them," Mika spit out and left the room.

'Wait, why didn't I thought about it?!'

After unsummoning the two, I left the room and noticed that Ricca was giggling.

"Ricca, it's your job to make sure everyone is awake from now on. Now, go wake them up. I also want you to wake up Ema," with that I unsummoner her as well and quickly followed Mika to the dining hall.

As we ate out breakfast, Mika did say a single word. 'Urgh... this is my fault... I need to do something...'

"Mika, we are going in the guild today, but do you want to look around after that?"

Mika made a sour face.

"I mean, just the two of us..." I scrached the back of my head not knowing what will she say.

"I guess... I could give you a chance to redeem yourself," she puffed her cheeks stuffing her mouth with eggs.

'SAFE!'

After the breakfast was finished, we said our good byes to the lord, who looked like he went through one hell of a lecture, and we went to the guild. I also summoned Shiro, Tama and Ricca beforehand to not make a fuss like yesterday. Also, the head of the family, sir Rupert El Mayleen, said to not disclose that to anyone and he himself made sure that no soldier from yesterday would be blabing about it too.

The guild, makes sure, you find your way to it by making every single their building look the same. So, even though the city have mostly red roofs, the guild have a green one.

"It looks as majestic as always hm?" I looked at Mika who was holding my hand as if it was the most important thing in the world.

Seeing her act so cutely, i couldn't help myself and I planted a kiss on her temple.

"Wuah! What's happening?!" she got suprised, but didn't let my hand go.

"Heheh, I just though that I got quite a cute wife," I smiled at her.

"C-cute... wife... ...yesh," Mika whispered to herself the last part, but I overheard it so I got to smile to myself too.

We entered the guild and I noticed that some people looked at us. Some were just interested in new faces, some were thinking if we are strong or not. And most of them were just jealous. 'Tho, I can't blame them, I have with me such a cuties after all, heheheh.'

We walked through the hall and walked to the party registration desk.

"Are you registering today?"

"Yes, three adventurer registrations and one party registration," I asked the receptionist.

"Plus one rank up examination please!" Mika rised her hand quickly.

"Oh, are you taking it or the sir next to you?" the receptionist smiled.

"It will be Flake here, he's an E rank summoner, but his abilities are higher ranked then that. I'm a former receptionist too and I can discern that his current rank is not acceptable."

'Ah, so she eloped with adventurer... she probably even make him broke of his party and buy those slave girls to make up for it. I really hate such an oportunist women... urgh...' the receptionist inner rage was quickly eased by a wicked idea, 'Though, if I make him fail wouldn't it mean she will loose more? Kukuku, sir Halen is here so I could make him do the tests, heheheh,'

"Understood, I will fill out your papers so please wait in the upstairs room. We will contact you as soon as the rank up examination is ready. As you may know there are not many summoners around here."

"It's fine, we can wait," Mika gave her a fake smile.

'She's planning something, and I can tell it won't be nice.'

We said our good byes to the receptionist and went to the upper room, where Ricca and the rest filled out ther papers and waited for their own ability test.

"Sir Flake, your examinator is ready, please continue to training area five," the receptionist smiled at me and we went to the designated area. While the four girls were seated in the spectator area, I steped into the arena.

"So you are the examinee?" a man about twice my years stepped out of the shadows of the walls, "I'm the examinator for summoners. Call me Halen, B ranked."

"I'm Flake Flameburst, E ranked."

"I see, so let's get started."

As soon as he said that, the gong marked the start of the match with loud bang.

Before I even realized it, he started summoning.

I moved little further away from him and observed his summoning technique. First the circle, then the monster and finaly the order to the monster... 'So slow...'

"(Summon Aku)! Use (Flame wall)!"

Small magic circle appeared on palm of my hand and Aku jumped from it. Around same time Halen summoned a skeleton.

The flame wall separated us, but the skeleton ignored it and run through the wall.

"Admirable! Summoning Small Salamander lizard isn't easy! Your summoning and orders are fast, one need to be wary of them. But can you defeat my skeletons?" Halen laughed as he started summoning more monsters. Meanwhile, Aku was preoccupied with the first skeleton

"Level fifty skeleton... I wonder why it didn't evolved yet," I smiled to myself and activated summoning again. "(Summon Ruth, Valcha and Void)!"

"Huh? Big slime, Scale kobold and Redeye crow?! How can you summon more then one D ranked monster? Wait, how can you summon C rank monster and be still E rank?!"

"Don't forget we are still in battle! Ruth! Valcha! Destroy the skeletons! Aku use (Fiery blessing)! Void! (Evil eye)!"

While my summons annihilated the skeletons, I closed on their summoner with Void.

"Don't get cocky kid! (Summon Roc)!"

Suddenly extreemly big bird monster, Roc, which is B ranked.

"Cacaw!" Void's eyes shone with red light and the Roc fell to the ground and got immobilized by Ruth.

I used this chance and pressed a dagger against Halen's throat, "And that's a checkmate." I smiled at the examinator and he smiled back.

"Fine! You got me! I never thought you would summon them just to cover your true intentions, heh! Seems like I learn something new every now and then! Okay, you shall be now C rank. You have my approval!"

"But sir!" the receptionist tried to stop him, but was stopped herself by Mika's hand and cheerful yell.

"Mr. Halen! Thank you for today!"

"Of course miss Mika! Always happy to help the receptionist who helped me get all those achievements!" Halen laughed.

"Well, you listened to what we had to say, so of course your rank up quickly," Mika smiled.

"You know each other?"

"Yeah, from Krebul. He was an adventurer who wished to rank up, but failed many quests while trying too. So we offered him consultation and becouse he listened to it, he ranked up fast."

"All thanks to you miss Gold rank!" he laughed again.

"G-g-gold rank?" the receptionist looked with fear in her eyes.

"That is correct, I was awarded gold rank of the guild employees in just two years," she smiled and took out her receptionist guild card, which she had together with her adventurer guild card. Both of them were clearly stating that she is C rank adventurer and Golden ranked receptionist. "And if you think that pinning B rank with abilities rivaling A rank against E rank will go unnoticed, then you are far more naive then I thought," Mika smiled coldly.

"I wonder what the guild master would say," another voice cut in. I looked over to the place it came from as I was unsummoning my monsters and saw a tall man with black hair and eyes, and pointy ears, a sign of an elf.

"Yo! Guerno! I think you should train your subordinates a little!" Mika gave him a rather cold look.

"I-I know... sorry, miss Mika..." the guild master bowed to Mika.

"And he is..."

"He's one of my juniors and only second gold rank receptionist, who became guild master here about two years ago," Mika smiled.

"We should talk about the rest in my office. I saw everything, so Hannah, you can take rest for the day and go home," the guild master waved his hand end left in the hallway.

'Well, that was a quick succession of old firends wasn't it?'
