The soldiers became intimated by the threat. Even though they had the backing of the Blackheath family, it wasn't unusual to hear about a noble cutting their tail, and the people under them ended up being responsible for everything that happened.
Additionally, behind Vincent were women glaring at them and even the slaves looked angry. The soldiers were eight, and they were armed, yet the people in front of them not only outnumbered them but fighting against a noble could prove to be a losing battle.
Yet not all soldiers were completely intimidated by the threat. A few young ones believed their sponsor would back them up. In the end, about half of the soldiers considered listening to Vincent's order, while the rest were considering against listening to Vincent's order.
