"Uncle I have to pee-pee."
Claudio's body stiffened at the words. He stared helplessly at the toddler. "Urgent?"
Hastily the child nodded in his arms and looked at him expectantly. "Uh, your uncle doesn't know how. We'll find your papa. He'll take you to the bathroom. Okay?"
Adrien nodded immediately. "Okay."
Claudio's steps accelerated. Alexandre probably greeted the guests at the reception. Claudio would have taken the little one to the toilet by himself, but he doubted that the toddler could go to the bathroom on his own without any help, and he himself was afraid that he was not up to this mission and that everything would end up in a big mess. Claudio raced down the stairs, past staff and guests.
"It's pinching!" Squeaked Adrien after a while.
"One moment. Hold on." Claudio tried to calm the child and pushed himself past the guests in the hall. He hoped no accident would happen before he reached Alexandre. People were crowding the reception hall, laughing and chatting while they were raising their glasses.
The magnificent banquet hall was adorned with white lilies, roses and peonies. The countless guests had also taken great pains with their appearance, after all it was the event of the year for the European aristocracy, given that the de Valois family was after all a branch of the Burgundian Archduke family de Bourgogne and the French royal family, as well as part of House of Habsburg. Whoever had rank and name was obliged to participate if he did not want to lose face in front of the high society. Princes, dukes, counts, scholars, but also wealthy businessmen, together with their wives, took part in the wedding party. But among all these people Claudio simply could not discover the main attraction, the groom. He had thought he would find Alexandre with one look, because the guests would flock around Alexandre like a swarm of crazy chickens around the last grain. Just to get a little attention.
"Pee-pee!" Adrien suddenly urged after a long silence. He looked at his uncle with wrinkled eyebrows, his eyes were all glassy because his little belly was already hurting. He had to be very urgent for little gentlemen. Claudio immediately understood the urgency of the situation and raised Adrien above his head like a signal flag so that everyone could see him.
"Out of the way, we have an emergency!" Claudio could no longer suppress his panic and squeezed past the crowd. "Adrien, look for your papa!"
"What's wrong?" Loulou asked who had suddenly discovered her nephew's face high above the crowd. His face was all pale and his eyes were filled with tears.
"Pee-pee" Adrien cried.
"He has to go to the bathroom. I don't know how!"
Loulou stared at him confused. "Did you hit your head. You, as a man, should know best! Drop the pants and let it go. What's so hard about that!" Louise was nagging at Claudio while the toddler trembled restlessly.
Horrified, Claudios stared at her face and thought badly - that a lot could go wrong. Going to the toilet as a man needed some experience when it came to aim the target.
"What's wrong?" A warm baritone cut into the conversation.
"Pee-pee." Adrien's eyes got really big as soon as he discovered his father and stretched out his little hands to Alexandre longingly.
"Give him to me."
Relieved, Claudio handed over the little one to his father and decided that before he would get a princess he would have to practice with Adrien. Just to be sure. With his princess no mistakes were allowed! She was only allowed to get the best of the best.
In the toilet, Alexandre put the toddler on the toilet bowl. The kid's chubby little legs trembled, he could barely hold him. But finally he had managed to succeed.
"Are you alright?" Alexandre asked and took the toddler to the sink where he helped him wash his little hands.
Adrien nodded and spread his hand out so Alexandre could put soap on his palm. Then the boy rubbed them together. Just like Lily had taught him. Alexandre helped him and washed his hands thoroughly together with the boy before putting the child back on his hip.
"Addy, I have to do something. Who would you rather go to, your grandmother or Miss Crosse?" Alexandre said after he had glanced at his wristwatch.
"Lily." Said Adrien emphatically and puffed up his cheeks like two round balloons.
Alexandre laughed and frizzed through the toddler's dark hair. "Your grandmother will be very sad. She's waiting for you. "Grandma wants to see you very badly."
"Really?"
Alexandre nodded.
"Then I have to go see Grandma."
