Subduing The Devil Overlord

[WARNING: Mature Content 18+] "My soul craved yours from the very beginning of time." ____ Theodore Blackwell was the very reincarnation of the Devil yet Eva fell straight into his arms, not knowing that the Devil doesn't come to you with a red face and horns. He arrived in her life as everything she had ever desired... [Excerpt] Instead, a tall man stood there looking like the very reincarnation of the devil himself and Eva felt uneasy as she felt the dark aura around him markedly. He was handsome looking, no, handsome was not enough to describe his appearance. It was hard to describe him as handsome when she had seen no one as attractive as him in her whole life. His hand was in the pocket of his slacks as he walked forward in her direction. When she noticed him coming close to her, Eva took a few steps back until her back met the hard wall behind her. He didn't stop approaching her and Eva held her breath when he entered her breathing space. She was a head shorter than him so he leaned down until their faces were in front of each other. His hand was placed on the wall, right beside her as Eva stared straight into his obsidian black eyes which were darker and deeper than normal human beings. Was this a staring competition, thought Eva as she tried not to blink under his intimidating gaze. By any chance, did he not have the ability to speak? Finally, he opened his mouth to speak. In a smooth tone, he spoke, "You're staring in my eyes." _______ Handsome looks: Triple Check! Evil family relative: Check! Misunderstandings: Check! Power building: Double Check! A/N: This story has a slow-pace beginning and quite a lot of it consists of healing since trauma and panic attacks are discussed in detail. If you're not comfortable with it, I suggest skipping those chapters with warnings. Hope you all enjoy and stay for the whole ride! _______ Disclaimer: Cover is mine. Stay alive

He was groaning in pain.

And Eva's heart fell to the ground with a thud.

She didn't know how, she didn't know when. But the minute she broke off into a run, she didn't bother stopping until she reached him.

Her boots crunched in the snow, lowering her speed but soon she felt his breaths clearer and louder than ever.

He was near...

Somewhere.

Her eyes darted around, the flame in her palm unknowingly blazing brighter along with her dread. Taking a few steps forward, she lowered her palm to the ground and a gasp escaped her pale lips.

There he was.

Finally...

His eyes were closed, snow covering his features that she still couldn't help but stare at. His hair was almost completely hidden by the white material but the view that made her gasp out was his wings.

Those breathtaking, humongous wings that had carried her and made him lose his control.

They were bleeding.

Torn from several places.

A cry tried to make its way out her lips but Eva swallowed it instead. What use, when there was nobody to hear her pain?

And then his orbs flew open.

Her breath hitched at the way he still managed to make her lose her voice.

She crouched nonetheless, her hand coming over to take his hand in hers. Eva's was comparably warmer as she slid out of his jacket and placed it over him instead.

His shirt was tainted with blood that had escaped her sight since her flame had been focused on his wings previously. He was horribly injured and she didn't have a clue what to do about it.

"And death comes in the shape of you too..." his voice was faint and hoarse yet she heard him plainly enough.

"You're not dying yet. Not on my watch," she mumbled and somehow her heart shattered further at the wry smile on his face.

Without wasting any more time, she increased her concentration and focused all her remaining strength on her palm. Her head ached but she ignored it for the time being.

Pain was just an old companion here to say hello.

Bringing the large flame near the snow, she carefully melted the ground around him and under him. The snow melted leaving plain grass behind which had warmed because of the chaos she brought everywhere she went.

Not having time to pat herself on the back, Eva then focused on the plain grass to alight a fire that would somehow remain consistent and not burn the whole forest with its intensity. Impossible, she knew that but she had to try.

Like Davina had said, chaos had no limit.

And neither did darkness.

But that didn't prevent her mind from racing with worry. She knew that creating a fire using her powers on dry ground could be dangerous, as it could easily spread and cause a wildfire. The forest around them was dry and there could be a high risk of the fire getting out of control.

However, Theo was freezing, and she knew she had to do something to keep him warm. She didn't have any other options.

Taking a deep breath, Eva focused all her attention on the small patch of dry grass in front of her. She had to create a fire that would be intense enough to keep him warm for the time being, but not so severe that it would spread and cause the whole forest to burn. It was a delicate balance and one wrong move was all it took for both their lives to be endangered again.

She didn't have wings or anything else to take him away.

She was no angel, only a plain half-fae for now.

As she envisioned the sight in her mind, her hand, strangely enough, began to glow with a radiant blue ray. But Eva didn't have her eyes opened to catch the view before it was too late.

The moment passed as quickly as it had arrived.

She directed the energy towards the dry grass, igniting it with a small flame. The fire was small, but it was enough to keep him warm despite the continuous onslaught of snow. She watched it carefully, making sure it didn't spread beyond the small patch of grass.

Now back to the main problem: How was she supposed to heal him?

Dusting the small particles of snow away from his jet-black strands, she pondered the several thoughts in her head as quickly as possible.

Time was scarce.

But so were her options.

His face was no longer the healthy tone it mostly was. His breath had gone shallow and she almost couldn't feel his pulse any longer though it was certain that he wasn't that weakened.

Why?

Because he somehow still managed to grab her hand which lay on his chest.

To her, it seemed as if he was saving his energy if a threatening occasion occurred. Even at this level of pain, his mind was still managing to work, she thought with her hope beginning to fade with each passing second.

She couldn't let him wither away...

Slowly slipping her fingers out of his grip, she struggled to get up with the ache continuing to trouble her inside her head.

'This was a forest right? There must be somebody living around here or at least an abandoned shelter. If not that, then I need to find a quick way to contact the others as soon as possible...'

But if she left him here right now, all alone with no protection whatsoever, he couldn't possibly guard himself in his condition.

She sat down again, her hand coming to settle on the large wing facing her. It was matted in his blood and she roughly tore out a small piece of her shirt from the bottom.

The cloth soon turned soaked with all the blood it had absorbed and her lower lip trembled at the way his face continued to grow paler. Helplessness had never stabbed her in the chest that badly.

Her hand settled on his cuts that resumed to bleed though slower than the previous time. Laying her head on the uninjured part of his chest, a small sob escaped her lips at the pain that radiated off him.

'Heal him.'

"Please..."

'Somebody, anybody?'

'He can't die!'

"Stay alive..."

And even this time, with her eyes closed, she didn't detect the heavenly glow that radiated off her body and slowly shifted to him.
