And then one day when he was sorting through his order box, he saw a requisition with
‘Apartment two seventeen’ on it. Down in the remarks section it said that Adam was having trouble with his dishwasher, but Phoenix suspected it was just a trick to get him up to his apartment. He was tempted to place it on the bottom of the stack, but he knew if he did, he would be found out and maybe even fired. So, with his teeth clenched in anger, he went up to Adam’s apartment and knocked. He was only there a short time when the door opened, but it wasn’t Adam on the other side.
“Is this Adam Blackstone’s apartment?”
“Yes. Who are you?”
“I’m the maintenance man. He put in an order for his dishwasher to be fixed.”
“Oh, yes. I’m O’Dell Johnson. Please, come on in. He’s out running some errands right now.”
“I didn’t know Adam had a roommate.”
