Earth Goddess (1079 words)

Somewhere in the depths of creation five glowing orbs of light appear, four of which radiate in pure white color while the last and biggest one of the orbs was seemingly made from gold.

Those orbs are in fact souls, each taken form a different realm that had perished in their own ways except for the biggest one.

The golden sphere in the center of the four white orbs is a being beyond realms and its purpose was to bring the four souls to a certain realm.

Traveling through the starry filled reaches of creation the five souls soon arrive on their destination.

A baren ball of chaos floating aimlessly through space as its skies are blocked by towering thunderclouds and ash born form the raging and boiling seas and volcanos that illuminate the dark world with its fire.

Unhindered by physical obstacles the five breach the clouds and venture onto the biggest of the current landmasses where the golden sphere lowers the four souls onto the ground.

A radiant pulse escapes the golden ball before it disappeared.

As the golden light which originated from the entity beyond realms passes over the four souls, a change occurred.

They started to expand and take on the shapes of four humans.

Rentul, a man hailing form a realm that was mostly covered in water and had built its civilization on swimming cities and in underwater bubbles.

The realm perished through the emergence of the leviathans, creatures of immense size that grew in the deepest crevices of their planet.

Having been part of the expedition team that found and awakened the leviathans form their sleep, Rentul in a stroke of immense luck survived the encounter and remained stranded in a collapsing submarine until only he remained of his kin only to die by being crushed inside the remains of the submarine of the expedition team.

Niara, a woman born in a world of war where the flames of destruction burned bright, and the blood nurtured the ground.

Doomsday came to this world in the form of icy winds and that extinguished their flames, froze their water, and shredded their toughest weapons and armors to sink its cold teeth into every living creature's flesh and devour them, it only took three days for the cold to claim all but one life of this realm

Flames originating form her newest, but failed creation kept her, Niara, alive as they ate her flesh to resist the cold coming for her until the bitter end.

Welmar, a man brought into the world high in the sky where thousands of islands are carried along the raging winds of his native realm.

His kin had created machines, big and small, which allowed them to travel on the very same winds that kept the islands in the sky and replace many menial tasks with automated iron and steam.

The end of his world came slow but inevitable in the form of suffocation.

Unknowns to them, the gas they used as fuel for their machines was the very same one, they used to breath.

By the time they realized this it was already far too late, to many machines were tirelessly working in the very foundation of their civilization to stop the slowly approaching end of their entire race and most of the realm as without maintenance those machines will break down and destroy most of the available space in the world.

Having been one of the highest-ranking members of his civilization, Walmur had hidden away enough breathable air for himself to outlive all the other, even if only by a single day.

Lastly, Sasha.

Different from the other three, she was not supposed to be here.

The worlds form which Rantul, Nara and Welmar were all within a certain limit, one which Sahsa's home lacked.

They were restricted to a single planet.

Sasha's civilization had drained their native realm dry of any resources and used them to build ships that allowed them to travel through the stars.

It spanned over more than a hundred different planets and was steadily advancing future.

Until it was blown up by Sahsa herself no less.

She didn't have much of a reason.

Having been the head of the planet sized research institute she had all the fame, riches and power she could wish for and yet she still spent twenty of her hundred and sixty years of life to plant bombs all through the empire her race had built only to blow it all up while watching it happen just far enough away to be the last one to be hit by the burning hot shockwave of superheated particles and perish together with all the others.

The four souls now had taken on their respective looks and as if on an invisible mark they all opened their eyes.

Niara instantly jumped a few steps back and took a combat ready stance as her scarlet red eyes scan the other three people illuminated by the light radiating of the lava flowing down the nearby hill.

She had short ashen colored hair bound into ponytail and a scare over the bridge of her nose.

Her clothes were a mix of leather and metal plates.

Welmar was a chubby short man with golden colored hair and a carefully taken care of beard, his heavily decorated suit didn't mix well with the catastrophic background and if his shaking grey eyes are anything to go by he was outright terrified.

Next, we got Rantul, as a past member of an expedition team to the deepest part of the oceans he managed to keep his calm and only took a step back before sizing up everyone else while making sure to pay extra attention to Niara.

His icy blue eyes mix well with the auburn hair which he had cut short around his temples and the marine like uniform of his.

While the three, or two if you ignore Welmar who seemed to have entered a state of shock, kept their attention mostly on the people present, Sasha blatantly ignored their existence and instead focused on their surroundings while resting her hands in her dark-blue coat which she wears over her turtleneck pullover and black pants.

Forest green eyes calmly and full of curiosity wander over the devastated landscape as the wind tugs on her simple dark-brown hair which she messily wore in a ponytail over her shoulder, bound by a ribbon of the same color as her coat.
