CHAPTER 51

　　For a brief moment, Elodie was deafeningly quiet. She felt a stab of pain in her chest as Mitch spoke. She had to persuade herself that she was happy for her?friend but it?couldn't fit into her?system.

　　?"Are you still there, Elodie?" Mitch asked.

　　"Of course,"?

　　"What do you think? Is it okay for us to get married even though we've only been dating for nine months?"

　　"Of course, it makes no difference how long you've been together,?but anyway, congrats in advance; I'm happy for you," Elodie said.

　　"Thank you, Elodie, bye," and she hung up the phone.

　　Zander has already returned home. And now he's ventilating on the balcony. He couldn't seem to get Mitch's words out of his head. They do, however, spend a lot of time together.
