Level 9

It was a very long road to walk down and the scent of death thickened the more Beatrix continued along with her journey.

Her keen senses were constantly picking up traces of dead bodies that had been buried out in the middle of nowhere.

Each one of those buried bodies was made full use of by Beatrix who stopped by them and performed a song that allowed them to pass on to the afterlife.

Whatever was confining them to the mortal realm and their dead bodies had been severed and their souls were given guidance towards the realm of the dead.

Beatrix gained a lot of experience from each short performance and in some cases, the amount of experience gained was quite shocking.

Even if she could sense the dead bodies close by and estimate how many there were, she could not accurately determine how much experience she would gain from it all.

The number of the dead which had been buried was surprising enough but what had left her just as surprised was the amount of experience she was gaining from some dead bodies.

Each soul had its value and her system seemed to judge each soul differently based on each soul's strength whether from the power they possessed when they were living or the overall quality of the soul she had sent to the afterlife.

All she knew was that many people had died and had been buried along the road while some less than ordinary people were among them.

While she was curious about each person she had gained her experience from and how curious she was towards the world around her, Beatrix was too focused on the various gains she had in terms of experience and level-ups each time she came across another location where the dead had been buried.

Her picking of various weeds, plants, and other herbs further helped to raise her level and secondary profession skill mastery a little further each time she detected some.

There were various plants she had picked up that were ruined when she harvested them but she started to get the hang of it after a little more practice.

Beatrix kept moving and even as she kept heading toward whatever was ahead, her body showed little signs of fatigue.

Her unique physiology made it like she was a zombie that did not tire out so easily no matter how long it wandered without rest.

She got to experience all kinds of new things that came from possessing such a unique physiology.

She may have been gaining levels at a very fast pace but each time she came across monsters or others passing along the road, Beatrix hid herself and kept her distance.

She soon found herself in front of a small village area where there were small fences erected to keep out monsters and other animals.

The overall defences were quite poor but they served to keep out the lesser dangers of the world and if a larger threat appeared then it would be much more difficult to keep those who lived there alive.

Beatrix walked with steady footsteps up the main path while checking out her current level.

It had been shown that her level had shot up to level nine and that she was not too far away from reaching level ten.

With each level she gained, the closer she was to gaining her right to choose her main class, and would begin to gain additional skills related to that class.

It was something to look forward to so and she could sense a fast and effective way to achieve that within the village.

Her red eyes gleamed with excitement as she moved closer and closer until one person came into her view followed by others.

Unlike herself who was a Banshee, everyone else was a human as she had identified.

Her red eyes continued to look around before they showed a little disappointment. 'I may be in a fantasy world with monsters but coming across humans is just so.. ordinary. Where are the elves? Where are the dwarves? What about the demihumans with animal characteristics?'

Even though she was feeling disappointed about such a thing, Beatrix took some comfort in the fact that she had finally reached a location that would be able to provide her with some information about where she was.

As she entered the village, several curious eyes were drawn towards her who kept watch over her movements.

It seemed like her appearance there was something to be concerned about for some people since they could not recognize her.

Beatrix thought to herself as she saw their curiosity or vigilance. 'Well.. it is to be expected since I am dressed like this.'

She was someone they did not recognize and she was using some clothes to better conceal some parts of herself so it was only natural that others would be more vigilant.

If she was really in a fantasy world of some kind then such a village needed such vigilance if it wished to survive all kinds of threats from bandits, monsters, and many other influences that could come through their lands.

Beatrix adjusted her hood to keep her ears from showing while she wandered deeper allowing her to pass by some small buildings until she finally found herself near an open area with several stones and dirt mounds in place.

So many were buried from the many generations that had lived in the village and from before the village had been established.

Beatrix felt a strong attraction to such a place and she started to feel a little excited about being able to soon reach level ten but she did not go to perform her song right away.

It would be much too strange for her to suddenly visit the grave sites right after entering the village and she already had enough vigilant eyes watching her so she turned back around.

She walked up to a curious young boy who had been watching her then took out a small coin waving it in front of his eyes. "Show me to a decent place where I can stay temporarily and this will be yours."

The young boy looked at the coin and his eyes started to shine.

His small body moved quickly as he ran ahead before turning back to wave toward her. "This way!"
