The Carol bells.

"Ahah, why does this taste so salty?" I spoke, holding a cup of coffee in my hand as I walked through the streets.

Forget about my coffee, why does the night feel so different? Something is off, but I couldn't quite put my fingers on it.

Windows were shut, lights were off and what's even way suspicious, was the fact soldiers seem to be patrolling the streets more than usual.

Is it some kind of lock down?.

I stopped.

Turning my gaze to the left, I noticed people running towards me.

Fear hitched on their faces as if they were running from something, and somewhere in their middle I could see the imperial soldiers yelling.

"Quick! This way! Carry the little ones!!!".

Ehhhhhhh? Is there something going on here? What the hell?.

Carnival? Nah, if it was I'm sure Ruxain would have told me about it, she loves parties.

So then, what is the issue here? Why do I feel like I'm missing out on something very interesting?

"Aether!!! Aether!!!"

In the midst of the crowd, I saw Ruxian, running towards me with a boy cuddled in her arms.

"Ruxian? What are you…"

"It's not safe here… we have to go!!!" she uttered in front of me, panting heavily.

It's not safe here? Now I'm certain I'm missing something.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Some kind of monster is going around destroying everything, and the Black Haven are at war with another organization, according to the knights… and… Ava… Ava was…caught up in the destruction"

My eyes snapped open.

"What did you say?"

Ruxian looked at me, "I lost her when Merch was attacked by the black haven, I've been looking everywhere, but I can't find her."

"I've heard enough, go, I'll meet up with you." I spoke, and began to walk away.

"Aether!!! Come back!!!" She called out to me, her form disappearing into the crowd.

And I walked, the opposite of where the masses were moving.

The screams of the people echoing in my ears, but that wasn't the only that I could hear.

No, there was something even more beautiful, something more blissful.

'Ding dong ding dong ding

Oh how they pound

Raising the sound

O'er hill and dale

Telling their tale

Gaily they ring

While people sing

Songs of good cheer

Christmas is here

Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas

Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas'

I looked to my side, and I could see a church, unaffected by the destruction happening around it.

The beautiful voices of people singing echoed from within, a song from my world, one of which I remember well.

The carol of bells.

Standing at the entrance, I blessed my eyes with the beautiful sight, the glorious song kissed my ears in its abundance.

"What is this feeling?".

Whooooosh!

Dafahiel showed up behind me.

"I know." I instantly spoke,

"The time has come… eyes will bear victim to what happens next."

I slowly turned to look at her, she was kneeling on the ground, her head bowed.

"Dafahiel, I'm giving you an order, and you must not fail me…"

"I wouldn't dare."

"Every soul in this church must be protected, the building must remain standing, let thier songs ring out for all to hear, and the night shall be complete!".

"A-As you wish…"

I smiled.

It seems she understands the beauty in this music also, I'd expect nothing less from my subordinate.

"This is where it all begins."

I spread my arms apart, and instantly, a monster taking the form of Ava appeared in front of me.

I grinned.

"A-Aether…" The monster called out to me with a sad voice.

"Hmmmm…. Let's act out our roles for all to see."

Plllurggh!!!

Her whiplashes plunged into my chest and sent me flying.

…..,....

~Omni pov~

Narukami stood there, her whips extracting back into her body as she watched Aether crash into the building.

"The boy is dead… now give me your body!"

"Nooooooo! Aether!"

"Stop resisting, he's dead!"

"Aether!"

Dafahiel watched as the Narukami kept arguing with herself, both Ava and the monster were struggling to be in sync with one another.

'Isn't this Lord chaos's friend? She was possessed by the Narukami?' Dafahiel thought to herself.

While she was in thoughts, her eyes widened when she suddenly noticed him.

"Now then…"

Narukami, for some reason, froze up in fear, it was like she felt death was standing behind her and staring her down.

Immediately, she veered around to see a man, dressed in black, his cloak moving along with the wind as if made of mist.

He stretched his hand forward and spoke,

"Shall we begin.. the show?".

Narukami's face twisted into rage,

"Chaosssss!!!" She screamed out, launching herself forward.

Chaos, silent and observant, began walking towards her.

As soon as the Narukami was near, she sent about seven of its whip towards Chaos, each one locked in and aimed.

But before they could touch Chaos, he grabbed it, tugged the Narukami towards him before punching her in the face.

The force sent the Narukami flying, but not very far since Chaos grabbed the whip again and pulled her close with it.

This time, Chaos grabbed her by the neck, squeezing the life out of her.

The sound of the choirs from the church still echoing in the background.

"H-How?" Narukami, forced out.

"Oh? You are curious as to why you can't absorb my mana? That's simple, because I simply won't let you." Chaos replied.

"Kill you!!!" Narukami yelled.

"Your first mistake was taking the wrong girl…"

Tossing the Narukami up, Chaos stretched his left hand towards her.

Immediately sensing an attack, the Narukami used her whips as a defense and instantly, a powerful beam shot out of Chaos hand and connected with Narukami.

A huge explosion swallowed everything around them, the church being the only standing.

Narukami leaped out of the fire, landing on the ground with her guard up as she kept looking left and right.

She sensed Chaos behind her, turning immediately only to see pure darkness she panicked again.

It felt like Chaos was everywhere at once and Narukami was barely able to tell where.

In a desperate way to defend herself, Narukami gave out a powerful scream and from the ground grew multiple of her whips.

Slicing the ground, building and everything it touched.

And then, she spotted Chaos standing on top of a building, looking down at it.

"Dieee!"

Narukami launched herself up, forming her whips into a giant fist, ready to pounce Chaos to the very ground.
