Having the spell I just copied from Luke, I stood there feeling out of this world.
Empowering flames wrapped around me and the feeling I felt was amazing.
The spell itself is not the greatest but the real sense of amazement is knowing that I now have all the cards in my hand.
'Now I have decisions to make, but first I am going to have some fun!' I say as I walk over to the Vonite I previously put on top of the drainage system.
Not only did I have Luke's spell active but just now I also activated the fire spell that Ralph told me about.
Combining both of their powers together I put my hand on top of the Vonite vein.
This time unlike the last, the ore began to melt as soon as I touched it.
'It's already melting and the second spell I have active it's supposed to become more powerful as time passes.'
Thus, standing there with my hands against the ore I watched as the shiny solids turned to liquid and seeped down the cracks of the floor.
Although it was boring and time-consuming just waiting, it still brought me a lot of satisfaction.
It still took a good amount of time before the spell heated up to its max output.
Once it did the melting speed of the Vonite increased even more.
In just two hours the once huge rock was no more and the only thing to show for it was the sounds I could still hear of it falling down under me.
'One down just a bunch more to go,' I say with a sigh.
'But, I learned my lesson, I need to slow my progression rate. Ralph is already impressed enough, even if he doesn't show it and tries to hide it,' I tell myself as I exit the door and make my way into the hallway only to come face to face with a worker.
"Kid, this is a restricted facility what are you doing here! You need to come with me," The man says as he reaches out his hand to grab me.
"Ahhh-"
'It's been a while since I last killed someone I'm glad I didn't lose my touch,' I tell myself as I watch the dark magic consume the man alive.
Once again nothing but some dust was left of his existence.
Stepping on it as I continue my way to leave, a smile that's brought fear to so many already returned to my face.
Unfortunately, I didn't come across anyone else as I left the building.
Walking in the streets of the barren town that I seem to so often frequent, I pause just as I had a couple of days ago to look up and let out a sigh.
'In so little time I've done so much, but it's not enough! There are people out there hundred of-'
Ironically, my thought process was interrupted by a beautiful yet terrifying scene.
A stunning and blinding light filled the sky above me causing my eyes to burn.
Luckily, they healed pretty quickly, and when I could see again my mouth my left agape.
It was as if a second more powerful sun decided to be born at that moment.
The whole sky for as far as I could see was red.
None of the darkness that I welcomed during the night but rather a red that was so vivid it looked like the sky itself was ablaze.
'Holy, shit! What was that?' I almost say aloud.
The world-sized flashbang caused the residents of Wingston to come out of their houses and crowd the streets.
They, like me, were in awe, terrified, and curious.
"Attention citizens of Wingston this announcement is brought to you by Julia the recently appointed mayor."
Looking around I don't see any speakers like they would have on earth to project their voice.
So, I assume that it was yet another ability that was made possible thanks to magic.
"Hello everyone, there is no need to worry. What you see in the sky are the remnants of a Star power 9 spell. There must have been a fight between some of the higher leaders. There is no need to fear, no harm will come to any of you. We will just have to wait patiently for the flames that burn the sky to die out. We don't know how long this could take so we advise you all to return to your homes and get a good night's rest."
"Attention citizens of Wingston this announcement is brought to you by Julia the recently appointed mayor," The announcement concluded.
"Ha! Hahaha!" I laugh aloud nearly falling to the ground of laughter.
The people around me look towards me as if I was crazy but they didn't blame me. They themselves were still terrified even if Julia told them there was no need to fear.
'I spent all this time and effort only to be punched in the gut and shown this,' I curse.
'I thought, I could become powerful quickly but this, this is just unreasonable.'
'She said it was remnants of the spell someone used, so just what are the result of the target of the spell?'
Looking up at the sky once more I became blinded again.
Looking at the flames which seemed to want to burn the heavens I looked at the mana which produced the flames.
The rapid movement of the mana I could not even track, it was just a blur.
'Fuck!' I say to myself.
'I was thinking that if I was lucky enough I could at least copy the flames that the mage used but it's way too complicated for me,' I say dejectedly.
With my eyes burning and tired from working all day on magic I decide to go back to the house.
When I arrive I see someone sitting outside the house with their head on their lap.
Slowly I approach only to realize that it was Madelyn.
'Huh? Why is she out here?'
Suddenly her head shoots up as she was surprised to see me in front of her, but without skipping a beat she smiles and says something that shakes me to my core.
"Welcome home."
