The Ghost of Ottawa: A Promise to Keep

As the Nazi began his march towards the others, a hand reached out and grabbed his ankle.

In fear he looked down at his ankle to he the Ghost's hand holding him back.

"Even after all of that... You still fight."

"I-I won't let you."

He rose to his feet, stumbling but he was back up.

"I am the descendent of fighters, a man of my god damn word, and if you think a few bruises and broken bones will stop me, you've severely underestimated me, and my team. My wife will never have your hands on her, and I'll be the one to drag you back to hell, right where all you Nazis belong."

The Ghost tightened the straps on his sleeves as he took his stance.

"You will still fight me in your shape? What have you, one? Two punches left?"

"As many as it takes to protect those I love." said the Ghost putting on his mask.

The Ghost knew two things; One, he was losing blood and he needed to end things fast. Two, that serum was at the end of its life and the Nazi would be out of energy the second it ran out.

"Come on Ghost, finish this asshole!" yelled Daniel

"I'd appreciate some quiet! yelled the Nazi lined up to punch Daniel.

However, the Ghost had vanished from the Nazi's line of sight, giving the Ghost the advantage. The Ghost bit into the Nazi's arm tearing flesh away from it.

"WHAT THE HELL!"

The Ghost was gone again. " Hey Nazi assbag, I call this move, shadow of the Ghost, try and keep up!"

The Nazi looked around frantically but didn't see the right hook coming. The Ghost hit him clean across the face, as the serum ran out.

"HONEY! WATCH THIS!" Yelled the Ghost lunging full speed, fist extended out in front of him, his eyes full of hope as he threw everything he had into this one punch.

As the punch made contact, the Nazi lost consciousness for a moment, but came to see the Ghost drive his left hand, a hidden punch hit him square in the chest.

As the punch made contact, the Ghost spoke.

"Look, i said look at him demon."

The little boy inside him looked to see the monster, the Nazi hit the ground in a whirlwind of pure adrenaline-based strength. "Grandma would have loved to see you beat him." The boy began to cry, as the Ghost planted the Nazi in a shallow grave. "Goodbye Nazi! Goodbye... Demon of Ottawa"

Like a cloud had been lifted, the boy saw the man he would become, his body was a mess, but he held his fist in the air then turned to the other Nazi troops.

"I suggest you all leave, or face what he did." The Ghost said planting his boot on the Nazi's skull.

The boy was freed from the demon of hatred that had clouded his mind, and the Nazi was dead, laying in a puddle of serum and blood.

The Americans rushed out of their bunker and opened fire on the Nazis catching them off guard.

The Ghost dropped his hand, his strength failing, and collapsed into the arms of his wife.

"I did it."

"Yes.. You did it." she cried as she held him, his body severely injured, but he'd managed to protect the one person he made a promise left to keep.

"Can't you see, Grandma? I did something...good."

The Ghost closed his eyes and passed out from his injuries. The others helped carry him inside to the doctor, who shook her head.

"He's going to be in recovery for a long time. I need him in surgery stat!" They wheeled him into surgery as his wife, and his friends stood their watching as they took him.
