Mad Manor

Finally, we get past the gardens, and the land rises into a steep hill. That doesn't slow Vanessa down at all. She climbs, shirt billowing behind her like a ghost, and I follow close behind. That's when I see the creepy manor. It's black and looming over the town from the top of this hill.
"Here. Right here." She jogs to a tree at the side of the manor when we're finally at the top. "This is it." She points to the thick tree bough reaching toward the house, parallel to the ground. "A woman who looked like me. She had you hung right here."
My eyes climb the tree. "Hung?"
"For witchcraft." She turns to look at me, chest heaving from the climb. "Can you believe that?"
"So this obviously isn't happening in the future."
"No. It was a long time ago. I was a hunter, and I…" she looks up at the tree and shivers, rubbing her arms again. "I had a lot of people killed."
