Teasing Patrick Senseless

The teams were a hodgepodge of genders and ages, mostly high school and college kids with a few thirty-somethings thrown in for good measure. I was pretty sure I was the youngest one there, which sent a little thrill through me. We recognized a few faces from around town, though we didn't actually know any of them personally.

When it came time to pick teams, Patrick and I were both in high demand - though for vastly different reasons. He was the local football hero, all broad shoulders and cocky grin. Me? Well, let's just say my physical assets were particularly impressive for a 14-year-old. We ended up on separate teams, much to Patrick's obvious disappointment. Poor baby.

One lovesick puppy on the other team offered me his glove when they were at bat. I filed that away for later - I'd have to think of a suitable way to "thank" him. Maybe let him catch a glimpse of something he shouldn't? The possibilities were endless.
