Chapter 3 : Mate

Evelyn

After changing to her wolf form , she started running around the forest , thinking about her life so far .

So far , she was labelled as mateless by the whole kingdom . Everyone looks down at her for her birth and looks at her with disdain and disgust whenever they see her . When she reached 18 , everyone was keeping an eye on her , waiting for news about the unlucky person . Contrary to their expectations, they never heard of her mate , which resulted in people laughing at her , calling her mateless. Especially now , since she reached 21 . That was the deadline for finding a mate as finding one after that is so hard and almost impossible.

To be honest, she never really cared about this matter . Having a mate might cause her more trouble than she's having at the Anderson mansion . However , deep in her heart , she dreamt of having a kind , faithful mate , who loves her the most , so she's waiting to see what happens .

Thinking about her mate , she unknowingly steps into the vampire territory as the forest separates both kingdoms .

As soon as she stepped in , alarms all around her went off , startling her out of her thoughts .Before she could react , guards surrounded her , trapping her in the middle .

Getting ready to fight , she was surprised when they suddenly injected something in her arm. It took her a few seconds to realise what it was as her body started changing back into human form , attacking her body violently, making her faint .

This drug is called wolfsbane. A chemical used against werewolves, that forces them to change into their human form and attacks their body and mind weakening them instantly .

Two hours later

Evelyn woke up , finding herself in a car moving towards a place unknown to her .

This world is a modern one , but supernatural creatures are well-hidden and no one knows of their existence except the governments . That's a story for later .

Looking around , Evelyn found several cars surrounding the one she is in , and chains holding her in the backseat .

By now , she pretty much figured out where she is and what situation she is in . She's in the Vampire Kingdom and right now she's heading to the vampire palace to meet the king , Christopher .

She has a rough idea of what's going to happen to her , either imprisoned for trespassing their territory or used for negotiation with the werewolf king , although she doubts it'll work .

Feeling defeated at what's about to happen to her , she rested against the backseat , waiting for their arrival at the palace .

The palace was far away from the forest , so it took two more hours to reach there .

Arriving there , she saw a huge palace in the middle of a huge garden filled with all kinds of flowers and trees . This was contrary to what she imagined , so she gasped , making the driver glance at her weirdly . This was magnificent and all , but he was sure that the Werewolf Kingdom had a similar palace unless ... she thought they were blood-sucking monsters , and there'll be blood and bats all over the place .

Thinking this , the driver didn't know whether to laugh or cry . What kind of reputation did they have ?

Stopping in front of the door , someone opened the door and unlocked the chains then led her inside slowly .

Seeing this , she was so confused .

" Aren't our races enemies? " What she didn't know was that , the vampire race didn't hate them as their king told them to hate relevant people to their problems and not anyone of the same species.

Heading inside , she started feeling strange .

" Why is my heart beating so fast ? As if something is about to happen . Well , maybe because my fate will be decided after a little while . " Thinking this , she brushed the uncomfortable feeling within her chest .

Walking into the palace , she was led into a large hall filled with high ranking officials , who stopped talking as soon as she walked in . Seeing this , she was sure they were talking about her .

She sighed , " No idea what I should expect from such whispers. "

Suddenly , she smelled something good.

It's the smell of sandalwood .

As she was thinking from where this smell is from , a man walked in , making all people kneel down to him .

This man was the most handsome one she has ever seen , and she's sure he'll be the most handsome one she'll ever see in her life .

He had a tall and muscular body , with long legs and arms , making him look superior to everyone present . His cold face made everyone shiver at the sight of it . While his thin lips complemented his face giving him a colder look . His chin was as sharp as a knife as his face was shaved with not a single hair in sight .

Looking up into his eyes , Evelyn froze as their eyes met and her wolf repeated the word in her mind , " Mate ! "

At the same time , the man said while lookinh at her with a shocked expression.

Then they both spoke at the same time , " Mate ! "
