Chapter 135

Mark woke up and received unexpected news. Gwen informed him that Dr. Maria had just received news about a widespread epidemic outbreak in Africa. She had immediately purchased a plane ticket to rush there. However, before leaving, she left the room key with Gwen, allowing Mark and the others to stay as long as they liked. She expressed her hope to discuss genetics with Mark when she returned.

Mark, however, knew that the likelihood of her return was low. She would likely become infected with the epidemic in Africa. In an effort to save her, Kraven would administer the mysterious serum, causing her to transform into a beast. While she would eventually regain her humanity, she would choose to wander the world with her beloved.

Considering this, Mark decided not to interfere. Their relationship was not particularly deep, and the outcome depicted in the original story was likely the most fulfilling for Dr. Maria. Originally, she and Kraven, one passionate about hunting and nature, and the other physically weak, had been forcibly separated. Now, with her newfound strength, they could finally be together forever.

Even she herself refused the well-intentioned offer to return to a normal human state, so Mark saw no need to intervene.

Glancing at the time, he realized there was still some time before dinner, and Gwen wasn't hungry. So Mark decided to pick up the materials left behind by Dr. Maria and start reading. He had long wanted an opportunity to study and gain knowledge in biology and physics to further enhance his abilities.

He had been constantly busy, improving his strength across various worlds due to issues with the Inheritors that weighed over him like the Sword of Damocles. It had kept him constantly on edge.

However, with the increased control over the Web of Fate and greater powers, he had newfound free time to strengthen his core abilities. Furthermore, now that he possessed the ability to use quantum surgery to enhance the genetics of the Spider-Men, having a strong understanding of biological knowledge would enable him to directly boost their powers when needed, without relying on external assistance.

Gwen, noticing Mark's actions, picked up a nearby book to read as well. But it was evident that she couldn't comprehend it fully. Despite her intelligence, she's just staring University. Dr. Maria's collection primarily consisted of knowledge useful at the graduate level, and much of it remained beyond her understanding.

Mark also came across several topics he couldn't grasp because of his astronomy background. Yet, he had practical experience, a clear purpose, and focused solely on materials related to biological genetics. His approach was not merely reading but memorizing.

It's all about relying on his excellent memory skills to memorize this information, whether he understands it or not; he'll figure it out with practice in the future. Mark gave himself a thumbs up for his plan.

So, he continued to study for over an hour before getting up and waking up the drowsy Gwen to have a meal. First, he visited a gold exchange and converted some gold into the local currency of this era. Then, Mark and Gwen went straight to a luxurious hotel, reportedly the best in New York City. After all, the money was provided generously by Harry Osborn, so there was no need to be thrifty. Mark wanted to treat himself.

However, when Gwen was holding Mark's hand and they arrived at the hotel's entrance, they encountered two people who surprised them.

Of course, they didn't actually know these two people, but from their conversation, Mark and Gwen learned their identities.

"Mary Jane, for the past few months, you've been turning down every invitation I've extended. But now, you've agreed to go on a date with me? What changed your mind?" The young man wearing an orange jacket spoke.

By his side stood a young woman with a golden yellow sweater and a head of auburn hair.

Mary Jane?

Mark immediately turned his head to look. He took a moment to think and quickly recalled the identity of the young man from his memory.

Harry Osborn!

Mark couldn't help but laugh, feeling a bit bemused.

One moment he was thinking about milking Harry Osborn, the wealthy tycoon, and the next, he encountered an alternate-world counterpart of him. It was like the "Murphy's Law: Love Apartment Edition." But if he remembered correctly, in the original series, Mary Jane went on a date with Harry Osborn because 94 Spider always stood her up, and Harry Osborn bravely stepped in to protect her from the Human-Spider. Now, with Mark's intervention, 94 Spider had not become the Human-Spider, so there was no heroics from Harry Osborn.

But why were they dating now?

He remembered that in this world, Mary Jane wasn't a promiscuous woman. Mary Jane asked from a bit of distance, "Actually, I asked you to come out because I wanted your help finding Peter. He hasn't been home for a whole day! And when I called him yesterday, he seemed really strange. I know that Peter is your best friend. Can you help him?"

Harry Osborn's eyes flashed with disappointment. He thought he had finally captured the heart of a beautiful woman, but it turned out she was looking for him only for another man.

However, Peter Parker was indeed his close friend from high school. They had been very close during their high school years.

After hesitating, Harry Osborn nodded and said, "I'll help you look for him."

"Thank you so much, Harry," Mary Jane expressed her gratitude.

Afterward, the two said their goodbyes at the hotel entrance and left in different directions.

"Parallel universes are truly amazing," Gwen marveled quietly as she watched this scene with Mark.

Mary Jane and Harry Osborn; she had seen them during her time in the Toby Spider's world. It was quite surprising that they had run into each other again so soon, and their current situation was different from what Mark had seen before. Perhaps, this is what makes the multiverse so fascinating.

Mark chuckled, realizing that he had been worried that 94 Spider's girl was having an affair, but it turned out Mary Jane was searching for him all over the place. She was indeed a good girl.

This made him think of 94 Spider's wandering heart. His level of romantic involvement exceeded that of several individuals Mark had seen so far. For instance, up until Mark's arrival, he had attempted to date girls like Felicia Hardy, Debra, and Liz Allan, among others.

Among these, Felicia Hardy was a female crime lord who had money and a stunning appearance, attracting the attention of many men. She initially dated Flash Thompson but, during a party, she danced and even kissed Peter Parker. Later on, she dated Peter Parker for a while, but finding him uninteresting, she returned to the embrace of Morbius after that.

After Morbius unexpectedly became a vampire, she missed him while still dating other men, including Kinsey, who became a villain, and Spider-Man (she didn't know Spider-Man was Peter Parker because he hadn't removed his mask). Long story short, this girl was quite bold, and calling her a "female crime lord" was not an exaggeration.

Oh, by the way, she later became the Black Cat, with a hot figure and great power. Her relationship with Spider-Man was quite passionate. Unfortunately, she left with the returning Morbius later. Hmmm... it's also possible that she thought she had dated all the outstanding men in the city and decided to try something different?

As for Debra and Liz Allan, they were mostly Peter Parker's college classmates, and each of them had their own interests. Debra liked Morbius, Morbius liked Felicia, Felicia liked Morbius and 94 Spider, Flash Thompson liked Debra, Liz Allan liked Harry Osborn, Harry Osborn liked Mary Jane. His recovery astonished Dr. Connors. At Dr. Connors' request, 94 Spider provided some of his blood samples. However, when Dr. Connors saw the significant changes in the current blood samples compared to what he had observed not long ago, he couldn't contain his excitement.

"Spider-Man, what on earth is happening? Your genes have not only been completely repaired in such a short time, but from the current state of it, the mutated genes have perfectly merged with yours, giving you strength several times, even tens of times more powerful than before!" Dr. Connors turned to look at 94 Spider, his voice filled with excitement and incoherence.

He even thought about replicating the miraculous events happening to Spider-Man on himself, so he could possess lizard-like abilities without altering his human appearance. In that case, he could fully regenerate his lost arm! Not only that, he could acquire a physique as powerful as Spider-Man's. This was a groundbreaking discovery in the field of new genetics!

94 Spider looked at the overly enthusiastic Dr. Connors with some confusion. "I do feel better than ever, but you're exaggerating, aren't you? My strength increased several times, even tens of times more than before? How is that possible?"

Dr. Connors, even more excited than 94 Spider, responded, "How is it not possible?!!"
