The Marriage - Part 6

The Kalyana Mandapam was abuzz with activity. The guests were already seated in the cushion chairs watching the proceedings. Wait staff dressed in a plain uniform served snacks and drinks. Colourfully dressed children ran around like butterflies while young teenage girls dressed in exquisite half saris, milled around the ladies section chatting away god knows what.

The elderly men dressed either in the traditional dhoti, shirt and angavastram (a long cloth usually made of silk that is placed either round the neck or on the right shoulder) reminisced their experiences.

The youth tried to flaunt their handsome bodies to the young women they wanted to impress. Those who were related and had high chances of getting married were already teasing each other and showing that they were made for each other.
