Annoying Maid

Dixie watched vigilantly as her maids moved about her room tiding up her bed and preparing her a bath. She didn't know if any of these ladies were sent by the bitches to plant something in her room which could get her in trouble with the Duke.

She wasn't about to take any chances!

Once the water temperature in her tub was balanced, Dixie instructed her maids to wait outside. She was not comfortable receiving assistance whilst bathing.

Plus, the maids all looked at her disdainfully. It was clear that they still held her in the same regard as when she was still locked inside the annex. They still believed they did not have to respect her.

Naturally, sentiments did not change in one day. Still, she did not care. As long as they did not the cross the line and brazenly disrespect her, they could make all the faces they wanted.

Scrubbing herself until her skin turned red, Dixie stepped out and instructed only one maid to come in and help her get dressed. This one really didn't seem to like her, as she was being quite rough with her whilst tying up the laces of her corset.

"Darling, I will drown you in my bathtub if you don't calm down." Dixie muttered.

The maid smirked, but nonetheless became a bit gentler. "It's part of dressing up for any noblewoman, my lady. Surely, you can handle it."

Dixie ignored that.

Once the corset was in place and her mother's beautiful green dress was fitted on top, Dixie slapped the maid's hands away. "You can go now. Thank you for your help."

"But I still have to help you put on your makeup and jewelry, my lady. And what about your hair? Surely, you're not going to go out looking like a bird's nest!"

"I'm asking you to leave. Don't make me repeat myself again." Dixie growled, eyes narrowing.

The maid offered up a flimsy bow and left with that stupid smirk still plastered on her face.

Oh, this bitch is bold. She must work directly for Tyren. Clearly, she believes my stay here is temporary and I will be thrown back into the annex in record time.

Dismissing the idiot from her mind, Dixie didn't bother with any glam. She simply brushed her hair and left it loose. Felicia had a stunning mane of red curls. Who would ever mistake it for a bird's nest?

A knock on her door revealed Bonnie and Helena. The brat was trying to smile, but it was clear she hated the fact that Felicia was being included.

Standing up, Dixie immediately went to her sister and gave her a hug. They exchanged good mornings and swiftly exited her room.

After ensuring the door was properly locked, she placed her key in her inner pocket and all three of them headed downstairs.
