In response to Mr. Handsome's cold and terrifying gaze, she gave a warm smile.
"I apologize again for my prejudice. I'm listening."
'You almost killed yourself again because of your own prejudice, you fool!'
After hearing this response, Mr. Handsome smiled himself and continued speaking.
"First and foremost, yes, the soul and the body are separate. However, this does not mean that the soul and the body are independent of each other. The soul has dual control over both the body and the mind. If the soul perishes, neither the body nor the mind holds any importance. Therefore, the soul is the abstract controller of a person's existence. Your soul, having experienced many lifetimes, has been tasked with receiving, preserving, and continuing the legacy known as the 'Legacy of Darkness,' left behind by the God of Darkness."
'Of course, because I've lived through things even beyond experience itself.'
Her mind drifted back to her life before her suicide.
The moonlight continued to shine on two figures walking toward the darkness in the realm of the 'Moon Soul,' which had been consumed by darkness. Meanwhile, Teyat, who had been listening closely to Mr. Handsome's words, waited for him to finish before quickly asking the questions swirling in her mind.
And she asked.
"I see... but what if I don't want to? What happens if I refuse to carry on and protect this legacy as you say?"
Staring intently into the darkness, Mr. Handsome answered while walking alongside Teyat.
"Then it will be bad for you. By bad, I mean that your soul will be cursed by the God of Darkness and subjected to an eternal cycle of existence. That means you'll live and die countless times, experiencing so much suffering in each of your endless lifetimes that you'll wish for death. If you reject the legacy, you will endure infinite agony."
After hearing what Mr. Handsome said, Teyat, unwillingly and against her will, nodded, indicating that she couldn't bear the thought of infinite suffering.
"I have no choice but to accept it, whether I want to or not... Forget hell, how can I erase my existence from this universe?"
"I don't know the answer to that."
Mr. Handsome's reply, filled with uncertainty, made Teyat look at him with disdain and indifference.
'What do you know anyway?'
"My concern is to offer the Legacy of Darkness to the one who deserves it."
'Wait, can this guy read my mind? Damn it!'
"Yes, I have been reading your mind from the beginning, sir."
'What if I wished for the gods to erase my existence from this universe altogether... how would that be?'
With anger boiling inside her, she wished, with a sense of hopelessness, that the gods would erase her existence from the universe entirely.
Upon discovering that Mr. Handsome had the ability to read minds, Teyat became more cautious about what she thought to avoid dying once more.
After coughing a few times, she spoke.
"Alright, continue."
They continued walking into the darkness in the same manner.

Mr. Handsome began explaining to Teyat what was necessary.
"With your permission. After the God of Darkness, hundreds of souls tried to continue this legacy. However, some were either corrupted and cursed, or they weren't able to maintain the purpose, and they too were cursed. Because of this, no soul has been worthy of replacing the God of Darkness, who was destroyed during the so-called 'War of the Universe."
After these polite yet emphatic words, Mr. Handsome drifted into his own thoughts.
'I wonder if this seemingly useless new heir could be the last one? Hopefully not.'
Teyat had accepted, albeit unwillingly, the responsibility of inheriting the legacy. After all, hundreds of souls had suffered in the endless cycle, unable to glorify the legacy. And due to Teyat's past actions, behavior, and negative traits, Mr. Handsome, judging her with bias, concluded that she, too, was useless.
A short silence fell over the darkness as Mr. Handsome stopped talking.
"I understand. So, you want me to replace a god and become a god myself... You're calling me smart but also mocking me at the same time. Fine... I understand that I'll become a god. Does that sound like a reasonable idea to you?"
Mr. Handsome continued staring into the darkness before turning to Teyat and answering.
"Then why are you here? Once upon a time, the God of Darkness was just a human. But they were superior humans. In fact, you humans are merely beings created as slaves using their genes. However, not all humans are the same. Some have the souls of gods. Some have regular human souls. The nature of your creation has no connection with spiritual life. Otherwise, a human soul is one of the lowest forms."
"There was no need to mention the last part. I already know. So, gods were just superior humans? I don't get it?"
Mr. Handsome sighed deeply.
"The gods were also born, educated, taught, married, and had children. In short, all the copied traits, emotions, and similar features found in the humans created as slaves also existed in those superior beings we call gods. Do you understand?"
"I understand, thank you."
'I honestly didn't understand a thing.'
