Chapter 8: London, Hotel, and a House Elf.

*Skreech*

As the plane touched down and came to a halt, passengers started to prepare to get off. Solomon unblocked his seat and waited for Sophia to grab her carry-on. Solomon proceeded to grab his suitcase and follow the passengers out of the aircraft. On their way into the airport, a sign read: Welcome to London.

Solomon would have smiled if he was not running out of time with his Polyjuice Potion, with the flight being almost 9 hours long he had about 2 hours to find a hotel. Solomon proceeded to the Passport stamp zone, to get his stamp signifying his entry to the country with his visa in hand. He would not need them much longer as he planned to get new identification with his name and his citizenship in the United Kingdom. Making a quick stop at the currency exchange, Solomon got around 200 pounds for the 140 thousand CFA he took out, which was 14 bills of 10,000. Taking out any more than that would draw suspicion as to why he had all that money. After he got some cash he called a taxi, Solomon informed the taxi driver to take him to a hotel near the center of London.

Getting to the Hotel and checking in Solomon made his way to his room. He reserved the room for a week, which should be enough time for him to get some form of permanent residence. Taking a look out the window he saw the retro city of London, much different from his previous life. As older models of cars drove by and families walked and spent time together in a nearby park, the image of London looked picturesque. Solomon himself was surprised as he went all this time without some form of entertainment, either that being his phone or laptop. Thinkin' about how time in the past was much simpler, though life could be seen as harder, people were more sociable and family oriented.

When he thought about the struggle he went through to make it to London, there was hardly any time to relax. From waking up as Solomon, officially in a way as the first few years of his life he was not conscious in a sense: to his way out of the desert, to the capital Bamako, and finally boarding the plane to England the journey has been tough on his child body and mind. As the Polyjuice potion slowly wore off he reverted to his five-year-old self. Putting on a bit of Star Grass balm Solomon got into the hotel bed and fell asleep.

Bang. Bang.

"Room service," a lady spoke through the door. Solomon grudgingly woke up.

Shit.

That is when he realized he did not sleep in his suitcase. This was Solomon's first night sleeping in the open per se. He had been sleeping in the comfort of his suitcase bedroom. Quickly grabbing his wand as the lady came in, Solomon released a disillusionment charm. The woman walked in with her cleaning supplies, and before she could even start all that was heard was "Condundo," as she made her way back out.

"Well good morning, London," Solomon muttered. That was a thrilling way to wake up after a tiring night. He had been so on edge and tired from the trip to England that when he was safe in his room all the adrenaline wore.

Chuckling a bit Solomon walked over to the phone and dialed for some breakfast which consisted of some waffles, eggs, and toast which he devoured.

Taking out his next steps journal Solomon wrote down a few things he wanted to get done before Hogwarts began. You might be thinking why enroll in Hogwarts instead of all the other schools around the world especially when he knew a war would begin in a few years? The answer was quite simple, he knew more about Hogwarts than any other school. As Hogwarts' benefits were known and outlined throughout the stories, the other schools though great were not on Solomon's mind. Solomon did plan to visit the magical communities in those areas and if he could find a way into those schools later in life he will definitely take time to study the mysteries of each academy. He wrote a bit more and looked at the plan on the first page:

House elf

Solomon himself tried calling for any free house elves during his time traveling through the desert. He had read enough stories to know the advantage of having a House Elf: to free teleportation, to a cook, to a cleaner, and to even a friend.

He spent a few more times calling for any free house elves during his stay in both Dejnee and Bamako but none responded. The hypothesis Solomon drew up had 3 conclusions:

Firstly, there were no free house elves around him.

Second, there were no house elves in the entirety of Africa.

And Lastly, since he was not close to a magical community the house elves could not feel his magic.

All the possibilities sounded way too plausible. Thinking about calling a house elf Solomon looked at the time and it was already noon. Solomon planned to call for house elves later during the night as any house elves called now would cause a ruckus.

He looked for any charms or spells to silence or soundproof his hotel room. He found a few spells that could work such as Silencio, and Impeturbabilis.

Silencio is the silencing charm, which renders the target mute. The only problem was he would be silencing an elf which whom he was hoping to bond with and that would not be a great way to start a relationship. In addition, he would be going up against a magical being, and if the stories and movies of Harry Potter were accurate then he was in for a thrashing.

The Imperturbalis Charm is the Imperturbable Charm, which created a magical barrier around an object, this object would have sounds bounce off it. The problem with this charm was it could not stop the elf from bouncing up and done and movement of its steps. Solomon knew house elves could be quite emotional whether that be for good or bad and getting a house elf to listen. That was a task hard for their master much less a random wizard.

Solomon search for the right spell until he found what he was looking for: Insulatas - the insulating spell, was made to keep all noise and movement insulated. That meant that what happened in the room would be bouncing back and forth in the environment. It was a niffy spell, Solomon was always surprised by the sheer amount of spells and books in his library. Another important reason for a house elf or multiple if he was lucky was to help sort out the books in the library, as any time he needed a spell or book it was a treasure hunt to find it. With the spell ready and the sun setting Solomon got ready to call for a house elf.

Solomon willed his magic as much as he could, he felt the magic rolling off his body in waves as he asked, "Are there any free house elves looking for a new home?"

With that question, Solomon felt his magic projected outwards as he waited for any house elves to respond.

A minute went by.

Then another minute.

After 10 minutes with no luck, Solomon cursed, "Fucking fanfiction novels, and their bullshit". Of course, there were no free house elves, as an elf needed to be bound to live. Without having a family or a building full of magic like Hogwarts an elf can not live. All that crap about calling out and a house elf magically appearing would not work. Solomon thought about going to Gringotts Bank or another establishment to get a House Elf but he needed a house elf to get there. Solomon did not want to risk walking into the Leaky Cauldron as that would be risky. Not having a guardian or some sort of relative that can vouch for Solomon put a dent in his plans. Solomon was stuck for the first time...

Next chapter in the series!! Will Solomon get a house elf? How should the story proceed? I was thinking about a lot of things that might affect the world of HP but to be honest, I think where it will head should be exciting and new! Thank you all for the reviews, comments, and power stoneS!!!

Much love,

Edge
