Burglars [2]

Raymond tried to dodge the dagger, but it was so accurate that it hit him in the legs as soon as he dodged. His father also encountered the same, putting them pinned to the ground just after the daggers hit them.

Rebecca was only trembling in fear. She went to them with a worried face, but she didn't know what to do.

"Why are you doing this? We didn't offend anyone! Why are you trying to kill us?!"

The burglars didn't respond and just listened to Rebecca's loud cry.

"Shhh... Don't waste your energy, Rebecca. Go to your mother's side and escape. Raymond and I will take care of this matter." Rudy whispered to Rebecca, but she tried to insist.

Raymond only let out a sigh and held tightly to his wound, saying, "This is a man's duty. Please, sis, take Mother and Lilia out of here!"

Rebecca was still trembling, but when she saw Raymond's determined and grinding teeth, she eventually listened to them.

"Please be safe." Then she went inside her parents' room and went to Rowena's side.

The three burglars were only smirking and chuckling as if watching some entertaining scene.

"What are they doing? Is this some kind of drama? If it is, it sucks."

The tallest one kept his smirk and just looked at Raymond and Rudy, who was glaring at them.

"What are you going to do, fire boy?" The tallest one taunted Raymond, but Raymond didn't budge. Instead, he pushed himself to stand up.

But just by bad luck, the three burglars suddenly appeared and left a few dark particles on their feet.

When Raymond noticed it, he already realized what kind of people these burglars were. Their [Talent] was all about shadows. It is a good [Talent] for assassins, and as he suspected, there were three assassins with mastery of shadow movements.

They could move fast in the dark. But it wasn't the only case. They must have already been in a second awakening as they could move their daggers with the shadow [Talent] they had.

They created shadows for their daggers and maneuvered them. It is not surprising, but in Raymond's current state, he won't be able to fight them.

For some reason, he could see their normal movements, but he wasn't able to discern how to fight with their [Talents] being used.

The tallest one looked down on Raymond and raised his hand. He put some shadows around it, which were supposedly fatal if Raymond got hit.

Raymond tried to fight, but the dagger was holding him to the floor. Rudy was also shouting in frustration as he watched his son about to die at the burglars' hands.

"Die." The tallest one said with the other two smiling beside him.

Rudy then shouted, "No!"

Swish!

Suddenly, the wind shifted in their surroundings, making the burglars move backward in alarm. Out of nowhere, Gandina appeared. He was panting as if chasing his breath after a few meters of running. But there was something off about him: he stank of alcohol.

He hiccupped, then gazed at Raymond and stated, "Please don't tell the general that I drank a little bit."

Raymond's eyes became wet as he almost died there. He was afraid of dying again. His hands were trembling, and his lips were numb. Words could not describe how weak his knees had become.

Raymond grinned and retorted, "My family was about to die, Sir!"

Meanwhile, the burglars were intently looking at Gandina. They prepared themselves as they felt that Gandina wasn't a simple person. He wore casual clothes, yet a belt was around his hips and a sword was attached to it.

They felt that Gandina would be a threat to them thus, they prepared a stance that they hadn't used earlier. They couldn't be complacent now. Even if they must think of their lives and fighting face-to-face isn't an assassin's method, their pride was holding them back.

The daggers that were holding Raymond and Rudy disappeared and reappeared in their grasp. When Gandina saw it, he smirked in joy, as he had seen a joke before his eyes.

"What are you going to do? Poke me with your puny daggers?"

Gandina glared at them and drew his sword from its scabbard. He swayed it in the air as if nothing had happened. Raymond didn't see anything happening after those sword movements. However, he was wrong as, after a few seconds, two bodies dropped on the floor.

Two burglars died with clean cuts like a slice of pork and the remaining one lost his legs, lying on the ground clueless of what had just happened.

When reality sank into his mind, he shouted in despair.

"Ahhh!!!"

Raymond's eyes were still in disbelief. He didn't see that one coming, and he thought they were normal movements. Was it a [Talent]? It is obvious that it was [Talent]. But even if he wanted to ask, he was still stunned.

Gandina let out a sigh and then approached the last one with the intention of interrogating him. But before he could, this person had already killed himself with poison. His mouth ejected white bubbles.

"Raymond, are you okay?" Gandina asked and helped him stand up. He also assisted Rudy in standing up, but he immediately entered their room and went to his family's side.

Raymond also did what his father did and didn't give any answer to Gandina.

Gandina was left silent and then forced a smile. "I guess you are okay."

Gandina then approached the burglar's body and inspected his garments. However, no clues to their identity were left, only their faces.

He let out a sigh then decided to leave the bodies, but before he could, he was curious about where the poison came from.

He opened his mouth, and as he saw something in the tongue, he finally found a clue.

On the tongues of the burglars were symbols of some kind of organization. It was a symbol formed like a trident, but he couldn't recognize this symbol.

Gandina called for Raymond and asked about the trident.

"I don't know about it."

It was Raymond's first time seeing it, even with the use of his memories. And just as Gandina heard his answer, he said, "I will investigate this. But may I ask, who might you be suspected of having orchestrated this assassination."

Raymond took a pause, but he already knew who ordered them to kill.

"Fulgran's family. I don't know his family name yet, but I know that he lives in the higher district."
