SOARING TO NEW HEIGHTS: Welcome to my pokemon world

An: Hello, if it's your first time here, welcome, if you are re-reading, your a madman. This is a bumpy novel, mostly due to the fact that it was my very first time being an author... of anything. I had never written before, and I was incentivized to recklessly write after reading Journey towards greatness. Hence the initial writing style. It's not great, I admit, but it does change (for the better) in chapter 70+ to a more conventional third person style.

This novel is all over the place at times, simply because I was learning to write, so any idea I had that didn't affect the overall plot was chucked in. additionally, I had no thought for character personality or anything related due to my writing skills severe lacking, so the Mc naturally ends up being equally all over the place. Moreover, I was indulging in every idea and fantasy I thought up that would make my character badass, and, as you might have guessed, only led to the creation of a 2d character. Which I've been correcting for a while now by making him more consistent and grounded. Not perfect though!

But I can confidently say that the story is much better the longer your read it, many readers have said so, even in the review section. I see this novel more so as a physical manifestation and reflection of my journey as an author, and I have no intention of returning and fixing it. It has its own charm, and people who like to see how authors progress will enjoy this.

But by all means, I still think that the battle scenes are good for a beginner writer. And I beleive that if you give this novel a good try, persist through the first 80+ chapters (which is asking a lot i know haha) then you will notice that it's worth your time. I died. simple as that. what? were you expecting more? there really isn't much more, to be honest.

I immersed myself in fantasies from a very young age. sadly said fantasies shattered with the coming of war. orphaned and afraid I got dragged into the army to serve my country.

somehow I managed to survive, sure, by the skin of my teeth, but I still survived.

I learned and observed a lot, participated in more elaborate strategies as I climbed up the ranks before finally retiring due to injury at the age of 55. coincidentally the end of the 3 world War.

and I can tell you that was mostly it, I had too many injuries from fighting for so long, I overworked myself cutting my life short. and in the end, how was I rewarded?

alone.

all I got in my final couple of hours was a cozy bed in a hospital waiting for the inevitable.

I sure didn't have to wait long I must admit haha. as soon as I fell asleep I died!

in the darkness, a flash of light appeared.

not knowing what it was Rex followed it in a daze.

before long he reached a brightly lit hall with nothing in it.

only a man sitting on a massive throne looking down at him.

Mysterious man "hello little one I see your next, welcome"

he said observing Rex

Rex on the other hand was far too confused to answer or even form a coherent sentence.

Rex 'what is going on didn't I just fall asleep? this must be what I read in that magazine a while back, something called lucid dreaming.'

Rex tried to organise his thoughts in a rational way before looking at the man on the throne and asking the most pressing question

Rex "who are you sir"

Mysterious man "me? oh, I guess you can just call me God"

Rex ' so I'm meeting God in my lucid dream'

Rex "and where am i"

God "you are at the gate between heaven and hell," he said matter of factly

Rex 'damn what meds did these nurses give me for me to dream about things like this?'

God " you are not dreaming little one, sadly you have passed away in your sleep"

Rex could only look at him with a blank stare before coming back to himself. he sighed heavily before nodding his head.

Rex "I see I'm not too surprised then since the doctor did tell me I only had a couple of days to live anyway."

Rex "so you're telling me this is all real?" he asked

God "yes, you are dead indeed"

God " do you blame me for giving you such a tough life?"

Rex "no not really I mean, I mean, I wish I could have lived longer, I didn't even get to enjoy my parents or my life apart from working all damn day," he said ruefully

God "yes well, that is the way life works, its a crucible not a stroll around the park. But I'm at least thankful you don't blame me for it, and since you didn't really get to live a full life and you seemed to have been a very kind person when you were alive I've decided to grant you a second life, you can choose where you want to go and 3 wishes to go along with it"

shocked by the unexpected favour Rex couldn't quite speak. before long he got to thinking

Rex 'since I'm dead now and I get to live again, I need to take the opportunities presented to me. As for the world I want to live in... I really don't want to be a part of war and death, I've seen too much of that for many lifetimes. so I think I'll choose the one I always wanted to go into as a kid. I did enjoy rekindling my lost passion as a retired person since I had nothing else to do.' thinking up to there Rex decisively voiced out his choice.

Rex "I would like to go to the pokemon world, in the Kanto region, pallet town"

Rex " I wish to have full knowledge of the best way to train pokemon along with their most optimal diets to become stronger than others of their species, "

Rex "I wish to be able to keep my memories from my past life"

Rex "I wish to have an AI system with an inventory, research function, hacking function and scanning function"

God " very good choice, wishing to keep your memories that is, otherwise, all other wishes would have been forgotten and you would have just been another person in a different world," he said chuckling

Rex nodded knowing full well what not keeping his memories would have caused.

God "very well, you can choose to either be born into a family in pallet town and grow up. Or another your second option is I will send you there. if you choose the second option I will allow you to change your appearance and age and also give you a random pokemon to go along with you."

Rex "I choose the second option," he said before a blue screen appeared in front of him showing a normal male body.

after a bit of tinkering, Rex came to the final conclusion.

Rex "I'm done thank you," he said stepping away from the screen before it disappeared.

God nodded before he proceeded to say,

God "your random pokemon will be in your system inventory, I look forward to seeing what you can do, I hope I don't see you back here any time soon."

"I should also mention that time runs differently over there compared to your earth. 1 year over there is the equivalent to 10 years on earth. don't forget that."

Rex ' is that so, that's good to know, seems that I won't worry about aging for a long time'

God "get going now and good luck"

Rex "thank you for this opportunity"

that was the last thing he could remember before he lost consciousness and vanished from the spot.

back in the hall, God chuckled at his response.

God "I wonder what he will accomplish. he seemed to adapt very quickly and can calmly analyse the situation. Most would still be freaking out about how they died and how to get back to their own world."

his image faded from the throne and only a soft laugh could be heard echoing through the now empty room.

author note: this is my first ever fanfic and I was inspired by a couple of other pokemon novels some of you might have read. i give credit to Evil_God_ZARAKH for certain aspects of my novel. this novel will be going region by region in order of the games and mega evolution, z-moves and Dynamax will all be a part of it. please leave a comment and tell me what you think of the chapter and any ideas since I'm open to including them if they don't deviate from my main storyline.
