“I have your Snapdragon. I told you I’d get him.”

“Let him go.”

“Did you like my little game?” Reynolds asked. “Such an ego about you, all big and strong, solving the mysteries in town, getting the bad guys. I took your friend and your business and now I’m going to take your lover.”

“You’re wrong.” Ron took a small step closer to them, but stopped as Reynolds yanked Chris back. “Why are you doing this?”

“As a cop and a religious man, it’s my duty to punish the sinners and make them pay,” Reynolds said. “I never expected such behavior from you, but your punishment had to be grand seeing as you’re my closest friend.”

“What are you talking about?” Ron said.

“You betrayed me,” Reynolds said, “so while I got over that, I thought up this perfect punishment and waited to strike.”

“Ibetrayed you?” Ron said.

Reynolds chuckled. “It’s perfect. Darton and his flowers made your career, and now your love of a Snapdragon is going to take everything away.”
