Chapter 70

Chris cried out as he moved his arm away from Reynolds, sending pain through his shattered ribs and forcing him to be still.

“Let him hear,” Reynolds said, patting Chris on the cheek. “Hurts, doesn’t it?”

“Go to Hell,” Chris said through clenched teeth.

“I don’t think so,” Reynolds said. “Don’t worry, we’ll wait for Ron to get here.”

“Why are you doing this?”

Reynolds smiled at him, then stood. “Had to move you to the garage. No need to spill your blood in Terry’s house.”

“What did you do to her?”

“Nothing,” Reynolds said. “I have no plans to hurt her. I just needed her to bring Ron and you to me.”

Reynolds knelt down beside him and put the tip of a butcher knife next to Chris’s head. “I almost got you several times, you realize that, right?” Reynolds said. “I had such plans the day we stormed your house and then again at James’s place. He lied to me, though. I wasn’t expecting him to be there.”

“He was right to not trust you.”
