Dylan said, “There’s a very small amount of people I trust right now, so you’re staying here. No more investigating with us, no matter what.”
Chris sighed.
“I’m sending our folks to a hotel,” Dylan said. “Everyone we know needs to hide.”
Dylan and Ron exchanged a look, then Dylan took several steps away from them and let out a heavy sigh.
Chris set his glass on the coffee table, then rested his head in his hands.
Ron stroked Chris’s back. “It’s okay, try not to think about it.”
Chris sighed as Ron slid his hand over Chris’s shoulders and then down his back. The warmth of Ron’s touch distracted him from the events of the day, but couldn’t calm his fear.
“What?” Ron said.
Chris looked up as Dylan glared at Ron.
Ron pulled his hand back and held it up. “I’m just rubbing his back. Today was a little freaky, you dorealize that?”
“It’s because of youthat he’s in danger,” Dylan said.
