Soul
Yes, sending me to my fathers was the most knowledgeable thing to do, but he didn’t really give me anything besides showing me who I didn’t want to be.
Of course having a father makes you want to be like him. You do what he says in hopes that he sees you as the man you aim to be, sometimes even despite how you might feel towards his decisions.
My father was a man who served because his father did. He enlisted when he was twenty three and met my mother three years later. I never had a real relationship with him. Just one of structure and discipline. I guess that’s better than no relationship at all. Which is what I’ve come to realize being around Adanni.
I’m astonished to watch her grow into a stronger version of herself. Watching women like my mother deal with many tough times on her own made me want to be there for Adanni even more.
