The man infected by the shadow plague had reached the third stage where he could make his body turn into a mist form.

He stepped out of his cell with ease and the bars of the cell went through him since he was nothing but a cloud of smoke.

Author and the Duchess kept stepping backwards as the man was advancing towards them.

" You thought you locked me up in this cell but I was just waiting here patiently to reach this from and here I am.

I have you to thank but I am sorry I must complete my mission now." The man said as he charged towards Author and the Duchess at a great speed.

Author had received a quest that he should save the Duchess's life, so he readied himself.

The shadow man charged forward at a great speed. Author sent his hand forward to deliver a punch but when the punch made contact, his hand passed through the man's body and the man was no where to be seen.

Author felt a puch on his back wich sent him skidding some feets away. Author looked at the man and noticed that the man's body had transformed into a solid form before he was able to deliver a punch, then he quickly transformed back into the shadow form.

' Hmm .. so he cannot attack when he is in the shadow form? I will have to wait for the right moment when he is about to attack before I give out an attack of my own.'

The shadow man turned and looked at Duchess and said.

" Don't worry I will soon come to you, but first let me deal with this little brat." The shadow man charged towards Author once more at a great speed.

Author sent out another punch but still upon making contact, it hit nothing, but Author already knew this and he had already made a plan.

He quickly turned and delivered a punch behind him as he knew that the infected man would be behind him, giving out an attack in his solid form.

When Author turned around he was shocked that no one was behind him. The next second, he felt an impact on his rib section, followed by the sound of his ribs cracking.

Turned out the man had appeared at Author's side instead of his back.

" Hahaha you think I'm a fool to use thesame move twice?" The infected man bragged.

' At this rate I won't be able to beat him, he has become so strong. Imagine a whole army of this sort of people.'

Author looked up and saw that the infected man was heading for the Duchess next. Author teleported next to her, picked her up and teleported away.

The shadow man went after them but the Duchess made both her and Author invincible and they left the area.

The infected man became frustrated and he started shouting In anger.

" You can run but you can't hide. You hear me? I would be back I promise." The man said so and passed through a wall leaving the castle.

Author and the Duchess had arrived at another section of the castle wich was safe at that moment.

"That was close. Thank you for saving me again Author." The Duchess said.

Author gave a smile but in his heart there was bitterness as he could not defeat the man once and for all.

Some where in a forest, three children are heading to a particular direction while chatting and smiling away.

Suddenly they hear a sound in the nearby bush wich makes them come to a halt.

" What was that?" one of them asks.

" I don't know, it might be an animal or insect." Another replies.

The three boys kept moving forward then suddenly they felt a hand holding them from behind.

" Heeelp." The boys screamed but no one could help them as they were far away from thier village.

The boys continued to struggle, then they felt a sharp pain in thier necks wich made them pass out.

When the boys woke up, they were still in thesame spot lying there with no harm done to them. But all of them could feel it. A strange energy was inside their bodies.

Author had left the castle with Mara heading to a party in a carriage. This party was to celebrate the opening of another school year. It was secretly organized by the students of the kingdom school.

Author checked his system and discovered that the system had increased his magic points as he completed his quest of saving the Duchess.

' How would I be able to differentiate some one who has just been infected by the shadow plague and those who have not?'

Author was thinking of a way to solve the mystery when Mara turned and saw him thinking so deep.

" What ever is bothering you, you can share with me, I'm here for you." Said Mara.

" I'm thinking of the villagers and how to save them." Replied Author.

" I really admire your courage. I think it's best if we inform them to leave that place, but I am sure it must be a difficult thing to leave your home." Mara explained.

" Then we must find for them a new home." Author replied.

" I guess so. We would send them to the next kingdom it is much safer there.". Mara suggested.

Author kept quiet because he never had another option. The next minute, the carriage arrived at a neighborhood before stopping.

" We are here." said Mara.
