Support and Casts

13x17

Ivy and Bailey listen as Arizona tries to get funding from them, "Wait. You're saying that you don't have the budget for dozens of babies and their tiny beating baby hearts?"

Bailey shakes her head, "Don't. No. Every time you want something, you say, but the tiny babies. The teeny, tiny babies. But you are the doctor who cried, tiny baby. Dr. Webber, you tell her. Robbins wants new wireless fetal monitors, when the ones we have are-"

Webber just walks by, "Its not my concern."

"Its not you, it's me. I pissed him off, too," Arizona reveals.

"Not like I did," Bailey sighs.

"Yeah, a little bit like you did."

Ivy looks between them, "Is this what it's like, being liked by a parent? I never had that," seeing Baileys glare, she changes the subject, "I put in a request for new bone saws. The ones we have now are getting old and harder to use. I almost had to start using it as an actual saw last night."

She nods, "I'll take a look."

Ivy watches as Maggie makes a comment towards her mom before following after, "You know, she's just doing something for herself."

Maggie sighs, "Ivy, I really-"

She stops her, "As someone who wishes her mother gave a damn about her at all, you should hear your mother out. Moms give their entire lives to their children. Every decision that we make is for the betterment of them. Now, your mother is at a point in her life that she can make a decision and not give a damn who else has an opinion. It's not for your father or for you. It's for her. So, let's take a deep breath and realize that it's okay for your mom to doing something that makes her happy, whether you would do it or not."

Maggie just keeps going until they find Jackson, "Jackson! What the hell? Why am I locked out of my mother's file? I'm a doctor."

"Yes, well, she requested privacy," Jackson tells her.

"I'm her daughter. She can't handle the fact that I might have an opinion about her boob job," Maggie turns to Wilson.

"Shes anxious because she's going into surgery," Jackson shakes his head.

Maggie paces, "Now you're telling me how my mom feels, Jackson? What is going on here? Level with me. You saw what happened the last time she was here. And I thought we could actually fix it. I wanted to talk and actually try, but she has been shutting me out from moment one. Why is she doing this?"

"You know, I really- I really couldn't say."

"Is she embarrassed about the boob job? Then why is she getting it?" Maggie asks.

Ivy steps up next to Jackson, "Maggie, the only one who seems to be embarrassed about the boob job is you. She's getting surgery. That comes with a little fear. She needs support. She needs support. Not little comments about how it will affect you."

"So I'm awful, is what you're saying," Maggie comments.

"Thats not what I was saying. Just try and listen and not speak. And stop looking through your mother's file. She has a right to privacy," Ivy reminds her.

"Fine. Just tell me are they going to be huge-huge?" Maggie asks before leaving.

Ivy turns to Jackson, "Hope I was of help, but I have to go. Have fun," she kisses him before going to check on some of her patients.

Walking into the attendings lounge, Ivy hears Meredith, "Her reasons..."

"Are completely her own," Ivy cuts in, "Maggie, she's single. If she wants to do something to her body, she has every right too."

"For sex," Meredith finishes.

Amelia and Ivy laugh as Maggie looks between the three, "I am asking you guys for advice."

Meredith sighs, "Okay, okay, sorry, sorry, sorry, okay. Tell me again."

Maggie sits up straighter, "Am I just...supposed to accept that this horrifying thing is happening? Am I just supposed to get on board-fold? Make a decision to support my g-cup mom?"

"No, you're right. You do need a reason," Meredith agrees.

"I do!"

"She can't expect you to just blindly jump on board," Meredith's phone starts to buzz, "You should demand a reason."

Ivy disagrees, "She doesn't owe you an explanation."

Amelia agrees with her sister, "And you don't have a right to tell her what to do with her boobs."

Maggie covers her face, "No, I'm- I'm not-"

"Its her body. Its her boobs. She doesn't have to justify her decision to anyone. I mean, don't come at her demanding anything. Just...give her some support," Amelia demands.

As Maggie leaves, Ivy takes her seat, "This is why your my favorite sister. Now, what's wrong?"

Amelia shakes her head, "Nothing. Don't worry about it. I'm fine."

Ivy tilts her head, "That didn't work when we were kids and it's sure as hell not going to work now. What's wrong, Amy?"

"Owen and I are fighting. He wants kids and I don't," Amelia sighs, "And I don't know what to do. He wants me to come home. He said I ran away."

"Amy, you made a decision for you. And he doesn't agree with how you handled it. That's okay. But you have to stick to your guns. It's your decision, not his. Don't let him force you to go home. Stick go your guns and be you. It's okay."

At home, Ivy rocks Aurora as the twins plays on the floor in front of her. Jackson sits next to her on the couch, smiling at Aurora who coos at him, "You would tell me. You would tell me if you had cancer, right?"

Ivy looks at him, "Excuse me?"

"You would tell me if you had cancer. You wouldn't wait until your doctor basically forced you to tell me, right?" Jackson asks.

"Yeah. I would need you. I'd be terrified and would need my husband there to tell me that I'll be okay. That he's there for me," she says, laying her head on his shoulder.
