Chapter 50: Get This Party Started

A week passed since the latest Wretched attack, and all of New Halo City was buzzing about it. Businesses were establishing smaller operation hours to ensure their employees would return home safely. Several major events, including the children’s circus and the beach campfire, were cancelled to prevent the Wretched from striking. Gemma herself was working overtime and patrolling the streets with the King’s army every night to exterminate any demons they may find.

The media made the panic amongst the citizens even worse. Several newspapers accused the royal couple of neglecting their duties to protect the city during this crisis. Every magazine was accusing specific individuals of being Wretched in disguise, including Roman and even Gemma. The worst of them all was Cindy Fourkay, the messiest talk show host in all of New Halo.

“Have a seat! It’s time for Cold Takes!” Cindy said to her studio audience as she sat herself down on her signature pink couch.
