Singularity: Lord of Mysteries

Members of the Aurora Order had brutally murdered Max, a child of the age of 15. In the body of this unfortunate child, enters the memories of Samuel, a not-so-innocent person in his previous life, whose life choices finally caught up to him one day and ended up killing him. However, he is reincarnated in the world of Lord of Mysteries, a horrifyingly tragic world where humans struggle against inevitable monsters of epic proportions by gaining Beyonder powers that ultimately either end up consuming them and causing them to lose control, or become strong enough that the will or the original creator takes over their souls. In this world of steam and machinery headed towards a prophesied apocalypse, armed with a Pathway that did not exist in the fictional novel, that will either lead to his ascension or his demise, Max must strive to survive and save the world... or would he? ---------- P.S. This is my first Fan-fic so go easy on me and give me pointers. Positive criticism is welcomed. If you don't like it or the writing is terrible, Ok. Just leave and don't rub it in my face T-T Anyway, I will post chapters hopefully daily, and I hope you guys help with the creation process of the novel. compared to my other novels, I will be writing this one with no fixed story in mind, so I will depend on you guys to give me pointers on what should come next. As of now, I have only written 2 chapters and will try to write one a day and keep up the upload schedule. Note: I had read the novel quite some time ago, and I do not wish to read 1400 chapters of something I have already read. So I went to the wiki and read through the summaries, and got the just of at least the Tingen Plot. Unfortunately, I do not want our first arc to be in Tingen for obvious reasons; Adam. Also, for those thinking his pathway is super overpowered after reading the first chapter, be warned that despite this, as long as he does not reach the highest Sequence and beyond, he is still too weak to survive in this chaotic world. Also, anything powerful comes at a cost, and you will see the cost when he tries to become a Beyonder. Anyway, I hope everyone likes the story and please comment and leave a review so I know where to fix the the fan fic.

Max looked at the object in his hand with an incredulous expression. It reminded him of a certain chip from his third favourite novel; Warlock of the Magus world. Despite it being the very first web-novel he had read… it had been demoted to third place by two really well written novels. One was obviously Lord of the mysteries, but the second one was a lot more brutal and cunning novel compared to these. It was, Reverend Insanity.

Anyway, the object in his palm, was constantly communicating with him through the contact they had. After he had experimented with it and thoroughly scanned it using his Spirituality, finding nothing dangerous, he had decided to first allow it to connect to the Amalgamation of All, instead of touching it directly.

However, it could not connect with the Sefirot, which caused great relief to Max, who had been worrying about it being able to steel the Amalgamation of All from his control. However, this very fact also came with its own form of frustration as he could not understand it or make any use of it.

Which was finally when he decided it was best to just rick it. After all, he had basically lost his path of advancement to Great Old One. He could not switch over to a path since all the adjacent paths led to the same final destination and were not recorded anywhere like the Slates of Blasphemy.

Perhaps, there might have been a way to switch pathways at Sequence 0 after gaining multiple authorities, and splitting himself like the Ancient Sun God had done… but it would be incredibly difficult, and take too much time to prepare and plan, time that he did not have.

As such, he touched it, and a flood of information entered his mind, but with his Spirituality, he had been able to stop it all, preventing the chip from doing anything. Then he slowly went through the information as his expression gradually turned incredulous.

'This thing reminds me of the chip from Warlock of the Magus World. Though it feels a bit more alive than that, it's really too similar. I wonder if those fictional worlds are real as well. Just like-'

Max's thoughts were cut short by Samuel and Unity working together to seal away these memories in case such realities did really exist and set their eyes on this already perilous world. This included the memory of the more terrifying Reverend Insanity.

'It's really surprising that Spirituality can affect the technology made by the civilisation that made this chip. Perhaps, it might even work the other way around, meaning this civilisation also had some form of Spirituality, or perhaps their technology somehow ended up at some conclusion of using Spirituality as a base.'

Max mused while tapping the side of his head with one finger, with the other hand holding up the small chip that was the size of a fingernail.

'I have gone through all the retained memories, but it will take some time to copy out all the technologies this thing holds. Even without accurate blueprints, just pointing in the right direction could advance scientific studies by hundreds of years if not more. But I should not use such technology here. It's best to use it on Independence to advance society there as quickly as possible. Alright, Mark has already met the king of Athens and has taken over his duty as advisor to the king. I'll tell him to pay attention to bright minds in that era and to also focus not only on war potential but also on the economy and especially the education. Once enough people are literate, the chances of getting talents would increase many-fold as information can be passed through the kingdom incredibly rapidly.'

Max nodded at his own plan and pocketed the chip. He needed to maintain physical contact with it to continue to understand the various technological and other advancements like the economy and society as a whole that were locked away in the vague memories of Luke.

'At least I have the potion formulae for the Spectrum pathway. And since I have full control over this pathway, I can give it to some of my subordinates. With this, I essentially control 50% of the Great Old One. Haha!'

The sense of returning with hope from a doomed mental state caused joy to surge within Max who smiled brightly as he walked out of the room, and towards his next destination. He knew Klein would soon be investigating the underground structure on William Street, and he wanted to know if he could gain a puppet… or an ally from the location. Though… it might be a horrifyingly insane one… but an ally nonetheless.

'Hmm… I also need to begin randomly going through doors again with the Wanderer's key. Some of the potion ingredients for both my own and the Spectrum pathway, do not exist on Earth. I will likely need to venture into other planets in the endless cosmos and try to find them. But I will also need to be really careful not to come into contact with any worlds that have Strong Sequence 0s or Great Old Ones… or worse yet, those with other power systems from the power system of pathways…'

His smile gradually vanished and he continued walking through the fog-filled streets of Backlund, heading straight for Williams Street.
