I walked into the building keeping a straight face and staring ahead of the people in the lobby. Almost everyone turned to look at me and the whispers begun,"What is she doing here?"

"Does she really think that she can get a job here?"

"She wants to ruin the reputation of this fine law firm with her low and disgusting background"

I was starting to feel uncomfortable as I approached the receptionist.

"Hello, I am here to apply as an intern",I gave her a sweet smile but she hardened her features and said"Who invited you here?"

Now I am confused, I dropped off my certificate 5 weeks ago and I received a call to come here today.

"What do you mean? I was called here today, I was sent an email"

"Really?let me see"

I scrambled for my phone in my purse but it was just impossible to find and then it hit me, it was on the granite counter at...home..

I am so not having the right kind of luck today,"I swear that I put it in here",I looked at her and it was quite obvious from her expression that she didn't believe me,she thought I was a fraud but I am not a fraud...

"I know that this looks fishy but I know that an email was sent to me, I just forgot my phone at home"

"And i am quite certain that you don't belong here"

She pressed a button and two bulky men appeared,"Gentlemen, please escort Miss Davenport out of this building" she had a sickly sweet smile on her face that spoke volumes to me...

"Please, you don't understand, I know that I was sent an email, I just forgot my phone at home"

I struggled but they won't budge,"Let me go", I squealed but they dragged me effortlessly towards the exit.

"What is going on here?", A loud voice boomed from the entrance and everyone visibly froze, all the on-lookers scampered like there was no tomorrow and the guards carrying me froze too...I saw an opportunity and I grabbed it..

I lunged out of their hold and onto the floor in front of the two men that I hadn't even looked at their faces yet.

"Sir please, these men want to throw me out unjustly, I did what I was asked to, come for the selection of this year's interns but she won't let me in claiming that I was a fraud all because I left my phone at home"

The whole lobby was as silent as a graveyard and I gulped, I stared at each person's face and some held pity for me and some were as pale as sheets..

What's with the weird expressions?

I stared at the polished italian shoes, up to the tailored trousers and the crisp white shirt neatly tucked into the trouser..I looked at the face and I paled...

Xander Knox!!!

Forget what I said about wanting to work here, his stare alone sent fear down my spine, he was the CEO of Knox lawteam and the managing director of Knox Enterprises.

I looked to his left and my tongue got stuck...

My crush stood before me and all I could do was drool all over his appearance,he was even better looking than those photos described him.

"Do you have any idea the amount of disrespect you have just shown by doing this?"

I looked up and saw a tall, lanky man that was almost the same height as the twins but who cares, he doesn't have the right to talk to me like that...

He moved to talk again when I was silent but Xander raised his hand and motioned for him to stop. He lowered himself and came to eye level with me, I gasped for air. His face held no expression but he had a sardonic smile playing on his lips...

He had a good body structure just like Xvaier, they were almost identical except for the fact that there was a cold demeanor to him.

"What is your name?", His voice rumbled and my insides melted like goo, why am I acting like a small child?, Oh I know, there is a greek god standing before me.His blue eyes pierced mine and I felt naked...

I think I took too long to answer cause he raised a questioning eyebrow and I suddenly snapped out of my trance.

"A..Anna...d-dav-daven...port"

I stammered out and his gaze lowered only slightly to my lips and I choked on my own spit and he noticed it,"Anna" he rolled my name out on his tongue and I felt my underwear getting soaked...I felt my face heat up and I gave him a crooked smile which by the way was the worst thing I have ever done in a long while...

"Throw her out" my dreams just shattered before my eyes and he stood up and walked towards the elevator with his entourage following him...

Some people snickered and the receptionist smirked at me, I felt my eyes water as the guards picked me and threw me out of the building.

I lay helpless on the sidewalk and my clothes were frayed and I was in shock...

I walked home in tears.
