SIGMA: The Rise of a New Era

Are you ready to embark on a new adventure to a high school campus with teen werewolves, where the competition is not between Alpha and Alpha for the territory, but an Alpha and a Sigma- or are they even competitors? David Matthew, the Alpha-in-training of the Eclipse Pack has been preparing to take over the leadership of his pack and over the disputed Crescent territory by fighting his prime enemies- the Alphas of the Orion and Moon packs. But his expectations are largely subverted when he finally comes face-to-face with the rumoured Alpha of the Moon pack for the first time, Nora Rovery. _ Nora Rovery has led a mostly secluded life uptil now- scorned by her father, disregarded by her mother and her existence largely hidden from the public eye, under a carefully-crafted web of lies. She has understandably set high hopes for her first day at the new high school- which promptly seems like a bad idea within the first thirty seconds of encountering the school bully, David Matthew. Come along on this ride with David and Nora, who are born to be enemies, but end up forging their own path, true to their rebel spirits.

Archery Arithmetic

Myron was right, she realised as soon as he left her at the door of her class.

She noticed that the professor for the next subject had already arrived, and seemed to be slightly mad at something.

'She was startled after seeing this, not knowing what was waiting for her after she returned home- she had already caused enough chaos for an entire month, and it was just her first day! But for now, she couldn't actually run away even after imagining the probable scenarios for the future.'

She mustered all her courage, and asked for permission to enter the class.

Professor Nolan was teaching Archery arithmetic, and he was an ardent supporter of his self-theorised principle: 'no one, apart from the Orion pack should be allowed to attend the class for archery- especially from the Moon pack."

The Moon pack was believed to have produced no archer since the past sixteen years, after the death of the archer couples.

He was already mad about David having challenged Ryan and missing the class, when he saw Nora standing at the gateway. A smirk appeared on his face as he turned towards the door to address her.

"Welcome, welcome! The probable Alpha of Moon pack, or should I also refer to you as 'Madame'? And am I allowed to ask, when your twin is going to grace us with his presence?"

Nora was embarrassed and hurt by the sharpness of his unprovoked remarks; only she knew how she was managing her tears from coming out.

She didn't say a word, while the professor continued, taking her silence as encouragement. "I really don't get it. How did the great Alpha decide to send his precious daughter to the school, where us peasants can encounter her?"

"I guess you are right, professor, but what should I do? Whenever I consider your replacement, the thought of your family stops me!" David's voice echoed in the background, making the professor alarmed all of a sudden.

"So are we welcome in your class yet, or do you want to continue your rant about how only the Orion pack is the only one who deserves to study Archery arithmetic?" He spoke, spitting metaphorical fire again.

Professor Nolan was startled at first, but then he realised that David had already gotten himself in trouble by challenging Ryan for a fight that day, and he saw a chance to return the insult dealt out to him.

Replacing his smug smile in its place, he proceeded, "Oh! So now you want to challenge me as well!? Or-"

"No professor, absolutely not!" He interrupted Professor Nolan before he could twist the matter into something entirely different altogether. Signalling Nora to step inside, he continued, "Actually, I don't believe in fighting the weaker person; but I think your sources are late, so I will break the news to you myself!

I have cancelled the fight with Ryan, for the same reason."

He took a pause after his announcement and sweeped his gaze over the class once, where faint murmuring had already started.

With a hint of a smile playing at his lips, he let the other shoe drop.

"But I am still up for a fight if the Princess of Moon pack or the Alpha of Dione, Louis agree to fight with me!"

He glimpsed at the girl from the corner of his eyes as he completed his statement, to find her standing in the exact same place, even after getting his signal.

The professor gritted his teeth, knowing that he couldn't do anything about this; meanwhile, Louis spoke up from his seat in the last row without bothering to get up.

"I don't believe in fighting to get something for myself; rather, I believe in fighting for somebody else's sake."

He ended his sentence by giving Nora a rather obvious look, and making David angrier.

The anger fumes filled David's heart so quickly that he entered the class without permission, and Nora followed him.

She was looking for a place to sit; but unfortunately, only three seats were empty- the ones beside David and Louis, and one on the side of a quiet student, who had not bothered to lift his head even for once despite the drama that had unfolded moments ago.

She approached the desk and asked with a smile on her face, "Can I sit here?"  David evidently relaxed after seeing her approach Robin, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face as he knew that Robin would never let a girl sit by his side.

"Sure!" Robin said, as he shifted to one side of the bench.

"Seriously Moon Goddess, the boy who has feared girls for his entire lifetime is also willing to sit with her, are you really testing my patience?" David muttered to himself as he grimaced, as if this betrayal had seriously hurt him.

"Nora Rovery! Come and solve this question!"

Professor Nolan's voice grabbed everyone's attention towards him again.

Nora quickly looked up towards the board to see the question, when the boy sitting next to her whispered, "It's brutal, he is venting his anger out on you. Nobody has been able to solve this question so far."

As Nora stood up and started walking in the aisle, she heard the voices of two people roaring behind her back, saying, "It's not fair to bully a new student like this!"

She ignored everything- the good and the bad, and stepped near the board. She picked up the chalk and within a minute, the solution was written on the board.

"Impossible, how can a new girl solve this problem, especially someone who doesn't even belong to the Orion pack?" Professor Nolan murmured to himself, getting so surprised that he didn't even mind losing the opportunity to humiliate her further.

{She is actually a genius?!}

{So the rumours about the twins were true!}

The gossip had started making its way around the classroom again, and Professor Nolan just stood there, trying with all his might to find a singular flaw in her work.

Louis was quite shocked, but what had just happened had satisfied the curiosity of David a step further- he was just a few steps away from reaching a definitive conclusion now.

She returned to her seat and the boy looked up at her, asking, "Whoa! How did you solve that?"

"I will teach you that, but I have a condition."

"What?"

"Become my friend!"
