Another Horizon

Ridgeside Station was about thirty kilometers northwest of our location. The seven of us set out into the deepening dusk as a chilly wind blew over the badlands.

Marc and Hal had no trouble keeping up in the Tetrider, so we made extremely good time. Soon we could see the large station square in the distance.

“I really hope the gift shop sells coats,” Fern said as we landed a short distance away.

“Yeah, it is a little colder,” I nodded. “It’s, what, late autumn now?”

“No, I mean, to cover our shirts,” Fern replied. “If anyone looks at our wings while they’re folded, won’t they freak?”

“Um…” I thought for a moment. “We were fine in Chandonis.”

“If you actually watch when we finish flying, our wings just sort of disappear,” Bernicia told him. “I was wondering this myself while I was out sh… scouting one night. It’s bizarre if you think about it. Like, there aren’t even any holes in our clothes.”
