Chapter 2

"Okay class, today we're going to be training in kenjutsu. Before that we need you to take the written exams." We all groaned at the thought of having to do extra work. "Don't think of it as an assignment we're just testing your knowledge of the ninja world and how best we can assess the future teams." "So it's a placement test Sensei?" "More or less." "Sounds pretty jade." I replied. "I'm going to pass out the tests and you shall begin as soon as you get the test. It's not a timed test however, your first lesson is to read the hidden meanings within the hidden meaning. Now begin!"

As I looked around to see some people struggling and others damn near flying through the test I couldn't help but get this feeling of eerieness so I stopped and thought about what sensei said: (Testing our knowledge of the ninja world... could he mean how well we know the past? or is he referring to how well we know both the past and the present?) "Psst, Shiro." I turned to see Kin-Jai showing me her paper." I looked down to read: "This is a test about resolve, teamwork, and deception." That's when the paper evaporated into ash and dust particles. I smiled at Kin-Jai and that's when our sensei had said pencils down and he began to scan the room that's when he drew his sword but that's when quickly me, Kin-Jai, Jensei, Inarea, Ninari, and Imari, spring into action and try to stop him but we were just academy students and were quickly subdued. "Not bad you six, you all just might be the prodigy generation. But I also thank you all for volunteering for today's training exercise."

The rest of the class groaned in annoyance as they followed our sensei to the training grounds. As we reached the training grounds we were all awestruck by the way it was set up it was a giant dome the size of the arena used during Team Ninja Tournaments but more versatile. "So today we're going to start working on team building, battle adaptations, and terrain advantages and disadvantages. I'm going to split everyone up in 3 man cells and you all will select one person to be your acting Chunin while the others are genin. All Chunin are to wear this vest." Our sensei held up a blue and white vest and then gave out makeshift headbands to the genin. "The objective of this exercise is as stated how well you work as a team, how adaptable you are to changes in battle and how well you handle the shift in both weather and terrain. To win you have to either beat and capture the opposing teams Chunin or knock every one of your opposing teams ninja out. The first two teams are as follows: Shiro Azim, Jensei Hoshigaki, and Imari Momochi. Facing them are Kin-Jai, Ninari Yuki, and Inarea Hozuki. Please choose your team leader and await further instructions."

"I think it should be me who should be the team leader." Jensei said proudly as he pointed to himself. "Fool, you're not even fit to lead this team I vote Shiro." "Me!?" "Shiro!?" "But why me?" "Yeah why him?" "Unlike you he's not hot headed and his calm and cool personality actually has some merit when it comes to stressful situations plus unlike me he's adaptive, he's excellent in genjutsu and sealing Jutsu as well as Kenjutsu and to top it all off his chakra reserves is ten times higher than that of the seventh hokages" "Ok, first off how did you know all that and Two why are you so observant and smart but lack the drive to put in effort in academy work!" "ADHD, and on the battlefield I'm hyper focused which is why I'm the best sensory ninja in our year." "Fair point." I walked up to our sensei and told him I would be the Captain of my squad and he gave me a vest and my squad mates makeshift headbands.

Three minutes later... "Alright, the first match is about to begin with both teams approaching their respective starting positions and we shall begin in less than one minute." As me and my team took up our positions I swallowed hard getting nervous about my first mock battle. That's when Imari turned to me and told me to breathe and said she'll be watching my back. I smiled at her and nodded as the buzzer sounded we quickly dashed into the forest. I held up my hand making them stop just as we barely entered the forest. "What's the matter?" Imari asked. "Shh, I need Jensei to survey in a radius of at least 20 meters. Imari, I need you to set traps from where I'm at to the northwest tree line. I'll be the decoy."

"Understood." "Right." Jensei began to form hand signs and then spewed out black water causing a poison fog to enter the area then summoned a box jellyfish. (With Jensei's water and poison fog along with his box jellyfish it's a guarantee it'll play in our favor.) I thought to myself as I put on my gas mask. I jumped down on a nearby tree branch and summoned a bat clone and disappeared into the nearby trees. As my clone began to watch the enemy it was quickly attacked with shurikens and it jumped in the air dodging them and four kunais were sent its way. It drew its sword deflecting two of them and leaned back dodging the last two that's when it was dispelled with two kunai to the back. "What!"
