Mutant-kind's future

"For fu*k's sake Holmes, use the damn door! You'll give me a heart attack one of these days." Moriarty yelled as soon as Sherlock got out of the portal. The tea he was drinking now soaked the documents on the table.

Sherlock smiled and greeted Moriarty, "Moriarty. You seem lively. How're things going for Griffon?"

Although looking reluctant, Moriarty proudly claimed, "The debts to the crown were paid off this year. Now all the profit's ours. We have been expanding well in Europe and America. Asia seems to be difficult but we are still making progress. As for Africa, we did as you said and treated them fairly and the yields are good so far, it is expected to increase."

Sherlock nodded as a confirmation to continue. Moriarty spoke, "The mines are doing well. Our manpower has increased as well. Recruiting and training are smooth for now. The orphanages are also already starting to operate in Europe. We've been finding a mutant or two every now and then. We've recruited a dozen of them so far."

"Any useful abilities?" Sherlock asked.

"Most of them just have deformed bodies with some enhanced strength. There is one who can see really far, I put him in a trading vessel as a spotter. Another one can grow sharper and longer nails, he was added to the secret force. Two others with good combat abilities are bone-man, he can manipulate and grow his own bones, and Whip-legs whose legs are flexible; he can run fast and kicks hard."

Sherlock mused for a while before asking again, "How are they getting along with others?"

Mycroft frowned at that, "It might be downright impossible to fit in for the ones with deformities. Even the others are either feared for their combat power or just plain avoided. It's the same as with the blacks all over again."

"Yeah there aren't many of them so they aren't noticed now but if they continued to increase there is bound to be a war based on the differences. It's for things like this that we created Griffon." Sherlock was seriously thinking of mutant-kind's future.

Moriarty was unconvinced though, "We created it to avoid wars and exploit them to gain more power. We aren't angels or saviors. What can we even do when the difference is so great? It's not just the color of skin Sherlock!"

"For now we can keep searching for them and hiring those that we can and teaching and helping to hide those we can't hire. They are bound to increase in number. Think of the possibilities when a whole species of super-humans is indebted to us and working for us." The idea Sherlock presented really shook Moriarty's heart. It resonated with his ambitions.

Sherlock hadn't given much thought to it really, he just thought that with such a large number and variety of powers and abilities, there was bound to be some that could help in his goals.

Although he had planned to use the genius of the likes of Tony Stark to help him design a machine to break reality, he couldn't be sure it'll work. So he had to keep searching for other methods as well.

And having more power under your control never hurt. Especially in a chaotic world where there were powerful beings all around.

"Okay. I'll increase our efforts to find more mutants. We can also teach them to hide. Should I find an uninhabited island to claim for our company and settled the deformed ones? We could even create industries there and make them the exclusive labor force. Granted the numbers would have to increase." At the prospect of profits and power, Moriarty couldn't stop his inspirations from flowing.

'Arrange it however you see fit. It's all your work anyway. Just don't cross the bottom line. Also, if you're ready to sign a magic contract I'll teach you basic magic spells and fighting techniques. It should add a couple of decades to your lifespan too." Sherlock had found a way to ensure complete loyalty from Moriarty in the form of magic contracts.

And although Moriarty was well aware of what Sherlock intended he couldn't pass on the opportunity. He had researched and looked for things like this already. And he knew vampires were considered immortal and he did indeed have a chance to turn into one if he could find a reliable vampire.

But he knew those chances were slim and instead of taking the risk to turn into vampire food, he decided it's better to use Sherlock's method.

'Loyalty to Sherlock is a small price to pay for a longer life ruling overall I will create. Also, once I'm powerful enough, it won't be too late to turn into a vampire or find other methods.'

While thinking things through, he asked Sherlock, "When can we start then?"

I think I need to plan a bit better for the story to go smoothly. I was making things up as I went along till now for most things but now I feel kinda lost in which direction to take. Please be tolerant and do comment what you think about the story.
