Goodnight Stories

"And the Princess lived Happily ever after..."

Amara pouted at the ending of the story that her mother told.

"Mommy, why does the queen suffer at the end?" She asked, amber eyes lighting in curiosity. Lavantha, a petite, curvy woman who was the definition of beauty with a heart shaped face and pouty red lips, ran a hand through her daughters black curly hair.

"Because she was evil, dear." The woman hummed as she closed the book and pulled her daughter into her lap. Amber eyes met amber.

One was aged with a sad wisdom that comes with time, experience and pain. The other was young, curious and ever so innocent. Amara was a cherub of a child, round cheeks with pink pouty lips and a natural healthy flush to her pale skin. She had her mothers' curly black hair and almond shaped eyes.

"I miss daddy." The small girl pouted as she toyed with her mothers curly black hair. Lavantha sighed, "I miss him too, sweet pea. However, crying imbalances the skin, so no tears."

Amara nodded with a tilt of her head.

"So why was the evil queen evil?" The girl asked as she twirled her mothers hair between her fingers. Lavantha sighed and she moved from underneath her daughter. "That is a story for another time, darling." Amara smiled as she watched her mother move the purple comforter from beneath her pillow and gesture for her daughter to get into her bed. She obeyed with a giggle.

"Want to know what I think, mommy?" Lavantha smiled, "What do you think, little love?" "I think that the Evil Queen was hurt. She was hurt really bad and she didn't want the Princess to be hurt too." Lavantha offered a strained smile and she placed a gentle hand on her daughters head. "Why do you think that, dear. The story said the was vain and evil. Cruel to the princess." The little girl pursed her pink lips that matched her mothers and she hummed in thought. "I just think so, mommy. I also think that the queen should be happy too."

Lavantha smiled again, as her own amber eyes filled with tears. "Get some rest, little one." The little girl nodded with a yawn and snuggled into her blanket as her mother tucked her in.

"Goodnight, mommy." Amara sighed.

"Goodnight... little Princess."
