She wouldn't stop crying and who could blame her. She, at first had only seen a text, and then she witnesses it with her very own eyes. Alice loves him with her entire being, when she wants to be with someone, she is slow to love. When it finally happens, she falls hard but doesn't show it. She loved Lawerence with her entire being, we had accompanied her to so many doctor appointments cause all they wanted was a baby. They had planned and planned that everything would work. Only for them to shatter, for no reason.

And now, she weeps uncontrollably.

Ellen had placed us in her guest room that had almost everything, a mini house within a house. She said she came in there when she needed to write or she felt stuck. There was a wine cabinet, a mini-fridge, television, a table with a laptop, two shelves filled with different kinds of books, and some sections with documents. She also had paintings on the wall, a stereo plus three framed pictures. One with her family, another with us, and the last frame with her and her boyfriend. They looked so happy, so fitting but knowing Ellen she had been begging for this.

Alice stood up, pulled the aux from the side, and played a track on the stereo. I closed my eyes as I figured out what song she was playing. Roads untravelled by Linkin Park, what shocked me was that she only played the backtrack and she sang to it. I could feel her very emotions as her soft voice carried it. The cracks exposing the pain as the tears fell.

"Weep not for roads untraveled

Weep not for paths left lone

Cause beyond every bend

Is a long blinding end

It's the worst kind of pain I've known

Give up your heart

Left broken

And let that mistake pass on

Cause the love

That you lost

Wasn't worth what it cost

And in time

You'll be glad its gone…"

This was her way of grieving, screaming and breathing. The woman that once only asked for honesty and reassurance from her lover. Now begged herself for healing. For assurance. Sadly, this is the part where the memories turned into demons and you blamed yourself.

See the thing about a woman is that when she falls so deep in love and you break her heart. A part of her will blame herself or even question herself. If you get her to the point where she is so tired someone else must do the fighting, you've lost a good woman. You've broken her and the next will have to work harder to reassure her.

Yes Alice is a journalist and a damn good one but she is like every woman. Curious to know and understand. Every woman wants someone that will do right, love them right, care about them. Every time without change. Once you start doing something different she is quick to notice and pay attention. She will take her notes mentally. Emotionally. Physically. Spiritually. She will keep it taped to her mind even if she doesn't want and gosh you better pray that it doesn't hinder your relationship.

And when she tries again… you will either have been a blessing in disguise or a curse.

"How is she doing?" Ellen whispered as she leaned on my shoulder. She had a tray of food prepared for us plus water and tablets. Ellen took care of everyone like they were her own children. She always said to treat everyone as you would love to be treated. I know she learnt that the hard way. For a women that has seen it all, you would think life would've beaten her up and all kindness would've disappeared.

"She'll get there. slowly but surely." I whispered back with a sigh.

"It's never been this bad. Never." She whispered but more to herself then me. she shook her head and then forced a small smile. She walked to Alice, placed the tray on the table and sat next to her. Laying her head on her shoulder, singing with her. Their mixed harmony, carried a soft tune. One that certain artists would never achieve. All I knew is that Lawerence didn't get enough harsh treatment for what he did.

I would ruin him.
