"Laine, stop meeting that guy. He's a delinquent," Alzid said to me while I was waiting for Clark outside the school gate.
"Is that all you do, badmouthing him to me?"
"I'm just giving you a warning," he said.
"I'm happy with him. Please, Alzid, stop it. Let me go... just please," I begged, and tears started to fall from my eyes.
I don't know why, but I just wanted him to leave me alone and set me free.
"Laine, you know it's hard for me to let you go. From the first time I met you, I knew that you were the only woman I would love 'til my last breath. But if letting you go will make you happy, then I'll set you free," he said in a serious, melancholic tone of voice.
It made my heart ache.
I couldn't look at him. I chose to lower my gaze because I couldn't understand what I was feeling when I saw the sadness on his face.
"I'll go now," he said, and I immediately turned to look at him.
I saw the tears in his eyes.
